Woman smuggled heroin in stomach: AFP

A 42-year-old woman accused of trying to smuggle heroin into Australia inside her stomach will face a Sydney court.
Customs officers stopped the woman, from Cabramatta in Sydney's south-west, at Sydney Airport after she arrived on a flight from Vietnam on Sunday, Australian Federal Police (AFP) said.
During questioning, officers became suspicious she may have been concealing drugs internally.
She was referred to the AFP who took her to hospital for medical examination.
The woman later allegedly passed 53 pellets containing approximately 130 grams of white powder, believed to be heroin.
She was charged by the AFP with attempting to import a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug under the Criminal Code Act 1995.
The maximum penalty is a $550,000 fine and/or 25 years in prison.
The woman is due to appear before Sydney's Central Local Court.
