Re: Tanaiste calls for tougher drug laws (Ireland)
Once again, agreed. There is an infinite amount of shite spouted in the press about drugs and many people who know no better swallow it hook, line and sinker. The problem is that the vast majority of the population could not give a shit about drugs or prohibition and it provides little more than a throwaway conversion piece for those seeking a reason for local crime. The Gards help to perpetuate this line of thinking prompted in their misguided endeavours by the Mctool fool.
Let's face facts here, it is far from a priority with most people, even those who are sypathetic to the anti-prohibitionist cause. That's a worldwide problem. |

Re: Tanaiste calls for tougher drug laws (Ireland)
Indeed. Drug prohibition, despite in reality being one of the greatest injustices/mistakes of our time, has become a third-rail issue virtually everywhere. Legalisation or decriminalisation of soft drugs is scoffed at and ridiculed to an extent because most people see standard pot smokers as idiots who can't follow the crowd like everyone else, chug back their beer and lash down their pharmaceutical cures when they get a headache. Then hard drug policy is a complete paradox of political ideologies - one side wishing to end addicts' misery by offering prescription treatment and the other shining their crosses and casting the dreaded junkies off to an eternity burning in the bowels of hell. Pityful really. One has to ask how did it even come to this? With all the media attention drugs have captured down the years why have people abandoned the notion of finding a solution? No wonder so many people believe it's some kind of conspiracy. To be honest, I don't know whether it's conspiracy or ignorance.
Today for example, I pick up the paper. It seems some bishop's opinion about Podge and Rodge and the moral decline of our society is more important than real issues. Bleh! |

Ahhh yes, how laughable is that? Blaming two puppets for the moral decline of the country. These people should take a look closer to home for moral decline. The priests and Christian brothers have been making their own morals for years in this country. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Re: Tanaiste calls for tougher drug laws (Ireland)
One of the more ironic points made by the bishop was the increased sexualisation of young teens in our society. Hmm...strange that their little secret society has been getting up to all sorts of dirty little activities with young teens, even young children, for generations kept under cover by their leading authorities. Perhaps he should have dodged that one. At least it seems even our lousy politicians didn't pay much attention to the bishop's words. It was brought up on RTÉ's Questions & Answers and even McDowell played it down.

Great thing about the Irish youth. SInce the 60's they were being raped anally and mentally by the Catholic Church so who can trust thewm anymore?
