Most of the Bantu-speaking people have traditionally used inner shavings of the bark as a stimulant and aphrodisiac. It is only used when mating rituals occur. These orgies have been known to last up to fifteen days, with doses of Yohimbe increased gradually over that period.
Effects The first effects are lethargic weakness of the limps and a vague restlessness, similar to the initial effects of LSD, chills and warm spinal shivers may also be felt, few times accompanied by dizziness and nausea. MDA produces a similar reaction and effect. A relaxed and somewhat inebriated mental and physical feeling, accompanied by slight auditory and visual hallucinations follows. Spinal ganglia are affected, causing an erection in males. The effects last from two to four hours. Usage There are several techniques for preparing Yohimbe. The traditional way is to bring 2 cups of water (per person) to a boil. Thirty grams of Yohimbe is then added to the boiling water and allowed to boil for less than four minutes. Turn the heat down and let the brew simmer for an additional twenty minutes. Strain the liquid and sip slowly about one hour before the effects are desired. Warning MAO-Inhibitor |

Yohimbe is very nice for energy and dieting. I use it combined with ephedrine and caffein to lose fat. |

Why is that? I do it all the time in moderation and have had no ill effects. What kinds of sides could you get?

Mono Amine Oxidase is a protein produced by the brain to mop up excess adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin. Mono Amine Oxidase Inhibitors(MAOI's) block the action of this protein, causing a potentially fatal, and generally dangerous, build up of these neurotransmitters. MOAI's require a very strict diet, and extreme caution when mixing with other drugs. Many Ayahuascas (naturally occuring DMT) are MOAI's.
I strongly recommend you read the following links... http://www.nelmh.org/content_print.a...d=2305&fc=0051 85003.htm A Hypertensive crisis is a rapid increase in blood pressure, leading to stroke, swelling or heamorrhage of the brain, separation of the walls of the aorta, heart attack and eclampsia in pregnant women. I cut and pasted the links but they didn't work. You mentioned that MAOI's require a strict diet. What kind of diet do you mean, just one that keeps your heart healthy?

No, a diet which excludes all substances that would increase the levels of the neurotransmitters mentioned above. So caffeine, ephedra, speed, etc would increase adrenaline levels, cocaine, different yeasts & cheesewould increase dopamine levels, etc. |

From the NHS National Electronic Library:

Cheeses of any sort Cream that is past its use-by date Meat and yeast extracts such as Marmite, Vegemite, Promite, Bonox, and Bovril Meats which have undergone an ageing process such as salami, game, pate, etc. (although fresh or frozen meats may be eaten) Caviar and smoked or pickled fish (e.g., pickled herrings) Stock cubes, packet soups, or commercial soup bases Soy products such as miso, and fermented soy bean, curd, or paste. Dehydrated meals (as these may contain stock cubes or similar) Sauerkraut and broad bean pods Banana skins, banana chips, or banana flavoured products (banana peel may be used in the flavouring) Excessive amounts of caffeine or coffee substitutes (e.g., Ecco) Protein drinks (e.g., Sustagen) Home brewed beer No more than 2 standard drinks per day of red wines, white wines, port, or manufactured beer Use only limited quantities of raspberries, raspberry jam, avocado, products made from unpasteurised milk, and soy sauce Contact your doctor if you develop headaches or other symptoms that worry you. Also, contact your doctor before taking any other form of medication (e.g., cough and cold remedies, nasal drops and sprays, diet pills, pain killing injections). Aspirin and paracetamol are alright to use in the recommended doses. Inform your dentist that you are taking MAOIs. Also inform your anaesthetist well in advance if you are planning to have an operation. Hope this males things a little clearer. I'll post more info elsewhere... |

i tried yohimbe for some times.
i had powdered bark which i put into water with some citric acid and then heated it. around 2 teaspoons of the bark was more than enough, a higher dose can lead to hypertension, headache, nausea or an 8-hour erection. |

In the States there is a prescription drug called Yocon. It contains the
alkaloid yohimbine (found in yohimbe) and is prescribed for; um, erectile disfunction. Useres are cautioned not to take too much or an unending erection could result. This then requires a trip to the ER to have the erection "drained" (yikes!). Yes, that is as awful as it sounds, so beware. |

Is that true, the never ending erection, then having to get it drained?
Anyone had experience with this, the yohimbe, not the never ending erection, please post here. I am seriously interested in trying this but I have heard few reviews on it and most are mixed. |

I've tried yohimbe a few times. It's not to hard to find in Canada. Talked
to my doctor about it, but few (Dr.) now perscribe it because its really hard on the heart. I've tried up to about 40mg a few times and found it to be a bit speedy, like too much coffee. Had my heart running way to fast 4-5 hours after taking. Not as pleasant as I hoped. It does get the blood flowing down there though. None of those never ending erections. linc |

I personally did not like it. It made me jittery. I took it probably 2 hours before sex and the stimulant effect before the sex wasn't particularly good. Not at all like amphetamines, I felt more jittery than energized. It made me have sex like never before though. She thought it was great. But on my end I felt kind of jittery and it wasn't the greatest for me.

I bought the extract in a bulk powder. I used it as a workout stim daily. I lost alot ofweight and became paranoid and very anxious. Be careful. This is a powerful stim. I don't think its wise to overuse this one.
