A life-long experience, still going.
SWITC has seen some threads around here about awakenings, life changes and newly found spirituality; all being the product of drug use. SWITC has had many experiences with many different kinds of drugs and cares to share how drugs have changed him.
The first drug SWITC used was marijuana. SWITC began smoking marijuana at a very early teen age. The marijuana use significantly impacted his priorities, probably because he was too immature to understand what was important in life. He also began snorting heroin from time to time when he could get his hands on it. His main focus in life then was about how to get high and nothing else. His grade's dropped from A's to D's and F's and he began spending time only with people who did drugs (which was very few ). As time went on, things only got worse. SWITC soon began struggling with a deep depression. Throughout this depression he would begin seeking 'highs' through prescription and even Over-the-counter drugs. Often taking up to 30 Tylenol Pm's. On one evening something pushed SWITC to the edge and he attempted to commit suicide by taking which he found out later was 330 some Bayer Aspirin and another 40 pills containing an assortment of sleeping pills and Benadryls. He was taken to the hospital and was told that there was absolutely very little chance that he would survive because his blood poison level had reached over 85% and was still rising. Through a week’s dialysis and stomach pumping he survived without any physical complications. Still at this time SWITC couldn't care either way and was admitted into a mental hospital for 2 weeks. SWITC was eventually released. He later met more interesting people who also smoked marijuana. This group of his helped him slowly make progress his out of his depression and gave him a sense of belonging. SWITC then began experimenting with Alcohol, Cocaine, Amphetamines, DXM, Salvia, and MDMA, continuing his habitual use of Marijuana. SWITC learned a lot from his experiences with these drugs and began using DXM and Marijuana much more frequently. Through these two drugs, SWITC discovered himself, the music he wrote began sounding good to him and things that seemed so detrimental to him once could easily be passed off without any worry or regret at all. Although some depression lingered periodically, SWITC could most often dismiss it with a new experience of DXM which gave him insight on what was causing the account of pessimism. Eventually his drug use started to rapidly increase. He began using Alcohol, Cocaine, Amphetamines, DXM and MDMA almost every day of the week. SWITC knew it wasn't healthy or safe, but did nothing about it until one day when SWITC was offered a sugar cube that contained LSD. SWITC's experience on LSD was something he could have never dreamed of. The visuals, the euphoria, the energy, and the absolute appreciation of everything were something that he had been in search for, for the most part of his life. He discovered the real “self ". And was now perfectly content with his life. This LSD experience pushed any depression he had or once had back into the past and allowed him to move on with his life. He no longer felt hate, regret or inescapable sadness. He now was the person who he always wished to be, which was something that no object or person could do for him, except for this experience on LSD. Years later SWITC still feels the same way he did on his first LSD trip. He is able to appreciate life in every way, and he now carries hope and initiative for the future. He is much more outgoing and happier than he ever was. He now experiments with many psychedelics and often smokes marijuana. He feels no addiction to any substance like he had in the past. He has no feelings of depression, at all. SWITC recently experienced the loss of a loved one. This is something that would have destroyed him in the past and most likely have pushed him to attempt suicide. But now SWITC looks on only the bright side of things and understands why things are the way they are. He's learned to accept life and what he can make of it. This would not have been possible without his LSD use. SWITC feels that LSD has changed his life drastically for the better, as have all of the other drugs he has done. He now knows that without his mistakes in life he would not know how to correct them and live a more stable and healthy life. He learns from all experiences in life, whether they be good or bad. This is something that SWITC is indefinitely grateful for and feels that it will never change. Peace, Love, and Gratitude, |

Re: A life-long experience, still going.
Thanks for sharing SWIY's experience, it is good to read about how drugs can have such a positive impact on ones life. SWIM unfortunately had a horrible first experience with LSD and is too scared to ever repeat it, or to even play around with other psychedlics. SWIM felt similar feelings to yours after taking MDMA for the first time 9 years ago, but the feelings did not filter through in to SWIMS general life to the same extent (or for any great length of time). SWIM definitely found MDMA to be enlightening though.

Makes me wonder whether LSD/other drugs should be used to treat depression

Re: A life-long experience, still going.
I think swim actually became more mature and less ignorant after he began using psychodelics. Swim even enjoys life much more now than he ever has. It really got swim thinking alot and swim feels that his expirements with psychodelics has been one of the best decisions he has ever made in his life
