Drug info - What is actually in cigarettes?

I UTFSE and found nothing, so what additives are actually in cigarettes? I want to know the truth and not what some anti smoking group made up, anyone know?

Regards additives: Potassium or Sodium Nitrate - the keep the cigarette lit (so it burns up quicker and you need to light another one). And glycerin - to make the taste sweeter and less harsh.

This is in cigarettes you buy ready-made. Rolling tobacco is not subject to these additives.

Note: New York and Vermont recently put into effect laws to remove chemicals from cigarettes that keep them burning when put down for a minute. The reason cited was house fires from unattended cigarettes.

That news about NY and Vermont is interesting. I wonder if laws like that could spread. It's well-known in Ireland that the idea to ban smoking in public areas was borrowed from the NY template. Removing potassium or sodium nitrate from cigarettes would reduce the health risks. I doubt our government would be sharp enough to catch onto something like that though.

SWIM likes that law, and it definately works. Once in a while, if you're not paying attention, your cig will go out.
This will prevent deaths, really.
