Re: 5-meo-amt pharmacology?
) ok, now that, but:from AMT erowid basics: DESCRIPTION AMT is a psychedelic amphetamine-tryptamine first developed in the 1960's for anti-depressant research and, from AMT faq: What is AMT?
AMT stands for Alpha-methyltryptamine. AMT is the indole analog of amphetamine, which accounts for it's stimulant properties ok,i know, we're talking about 5meoAMT, but right now i cant find where exactly i read that thing, but i found about AMT that is closely related what means "indole analog of amphetamine"? |

Re: 5-meo-amt pharmacology?
It means that at the 3- position on the indole nucleus there is: CH2CHNH2CH3 group. This is the same as is found on the amphetamine molecule where instead of an indole nucleus, we have a phenyl group. In this way it is the "amphetamine analogue" of indole.
In the case of 5-methoxy -alpha - methyltryptamine there is a CH3O grouping at the 5- position on the indole nucleus. 5-MeO - a-MT is considered by most to be a horrible experience with effects such as nausea, vomiting, loose bowels, headache, tremors, muscle cramps - yuck! |

Re: 5-meo-amt pharmacology?
www.pubmed.com is a good place for journal articles but most of these compounds have little or no research done on them.
www.maps.org has a 'psychedelic bibliography' of studies which have been done on many compounds. www.heffter.org also has a selection of resources. 5-meo-amt has many critics, although each person is looking for different things from their experience. Many people feel queasy without the 'bowel loosening' effects. YMMV (your mileage may vary) |

Re: 5-meo-amt pharmacology?
damn...cant find nothing about it!however...is here someone that knows something about drugs(tryptamines) and pharmacology?maybe we can make some ipothesis! my ipothesis is that 5meo-amt is a very strong, full, serotonin agonist, unselective(every receptor),and maybe, more agonist than serotonin itself is(if this can be) the effects of initial nausea its probably because oral administration does stimulate serotonin receptors in the stomach, thus giving nausea(that fades away when 5meo-amt goes into blood and brain). when 5meo-amt is in brain is a pure serotonin syndrome. in fact syndrome syntoms are: Cognitive effects: mental confusion, hypomania, hallucinations, agitation, headache Autonomic effects: shivering, sweating, fever, hypertension, tachycardia, nausea, diarrhea Somatic effects: myoclonus/clonus (muscle twitching), hyperreflexia, tremor. Insomnia, sleep disruption, and unrefreshing sleep are also reported symptoms, as well as itching and hives. also i noticed highly empathogen effects, extreme mood lift&wellbeing feeling energy(after nausea and before headache) also, because headache occurs after 6-9 hours, i think it is probably due some kind of metabolite of 5meo-amt, or extreme fatigue due over-stimulation of neuro receptors i see most people who disliked the experience tried doses of 5mg and more.this is wrong in my opinion because high doses(and even 4mg is high for 5-meo-amt) gives more bad effects.right doses are from 0.5mg to 3mg.this makes also little or no side effects & hangover.also the hangover is quite strange:the day after you'll feel exausted, but for the next days you can be quite hyperactive also this substance leads a mild psychological addiction(probably due the downregulation of serotonin receptors after overstimulation) with regular use, syntoms anxiety and insomnia(amphetamine like), but this fades away in 1 week the thing that I don't know is if this substance also interfers with dopamine system, like somebody here around posted, or if other than agonism action, it also have a releaser and reuptake inhibitor action Last edited by Alfa; 11-12-2006 at 15:58. |
