DXM detectability in blood
A friend of SWIM, who is somewhat oversensitive to the effects of DXM, recently took 200mg (2,8mg/kg). He puked and a friend that was around but didn't know he was tripping, realized something was wrong and took him to the hospital, where they took a blood sample. The sample was collected while he was tripping, about 3-4 hours after ingestion (empty stomach).
The person didn't say anything to them, but he is afraid that they could detect the DXM. 1)Could they detect the DXM? If yes, how will it show up? PCP/Opiate/something else? 2)If it would show up as an opiate, how could this person get away with it? Would it be OK to say he ate lots of poppy bagels and had a cough and took a couple of Tussins and then started to feel dizzy? (considering his oversensitivity to DXM) Thanks in advance, this is really important for SWIMs buddy. |

Re: DXM detectability in blood
DXM has shown up as a false positive for PCP on some tests. However this seems to be rare. Some tests could conceivably detect DXM as its own category, but these tests, being more precise, are probably more expensive and thus most likely not used. So there might be a small risk of a false positive to worry about, but SWIM doesnt think this is too likely, especially given that the dose was 200 mg (even if it was taken while he was tripping). If it does show up as a false positive for PCP, SWIM's friend could simply state that he had taken some tussin for a cold and felt dizzy, which isn't too far from the truth. DXM (when taken as directed) is legal where SWIY lives, correct? As long as he doesnt say that he was trying to get high from it, he should be fine. Doubt it would show up as an opiate though.

Re: DXM detectability in blood
LOL FTSL, I knew you'd be the first one to answer this thread
![]() Thanks, SWIM talked to this guy again and SWIM told him that if he'd be asked again, he should tell them he had a cough and took a couple of tussin's and on the same day ate a lot of cookies with poppy seeds. This sounds plausible, considering his oversensitivity to DXM. Yes, it's legal to take tussin's for a cough, but tussin's are prescription. But any pharmacy gives them to anybody (illegally). Thanks anyway. |
