The Shaman & the Acid
A friend who is a hypnotherapist told me this story a few days ago and I found it interesting so thought I’d share, maybe it has been told before but I did a search on Shaman and there were no results, he said it is a true story, though this is word of mouth so take it as you will. The first part is a bit is background info which I’m sure many of you have heard before….
In the past LSD has been used by psychiatrists in treating a range of mental illnesses. It is thought that much can be healed and understood in this state. Some leading psychiatrists now use massage and hypnotherapy to induce such a state and many believe that anything a drug induces can be induced without drugs with practice, and have reported patients to become of aware of things they would normally block from their consciousness.
The standard LSD doses used by psychiatrists first mentioned were apparently far larger than the doses seen on the street today. One these psychiatrists traveled to Northern India, somewhere near Buhtan, he found a Shaman who agreed to take the LSD to see how he reacted. The Shaman took 3 times the dose usually used by the Psychiatrist…... seemingly to no affect. He went about his normal business all day, giving the odd look of peace and love.
The Shaman said that the drugs were good, but not as good as meditation. He deemed them a waste or useless. You see the physical reality is an illusion.

Reason: spelling error of Shaman
