In SWIM's ecstasy gulping days, there was a time where 'brown salmiac' ecstasy tablets where going around. They tested to contain MDA. SWIM and friends loved them. Nice warm feeling, psychedelic effects, good for dancing, a tad addictive as well. One annoying and worrysome feature of these MDA tablets was that they caused blackouts in the higher dose range. I do not mean that the MDA tablets caused the user to fall unconscious. One could be dancing into trance on one moment and on the next 'wake up' while still dancing and it is 1 or 20 minutes later. This was observed many times in SWIM and friends and eventually caused them to abort those pills.
Has anyone else experienced blackouts with MDA? |

Re: Blackouts and MDA
SWIM has also seen this problem, and also from taking X tablets instead of just MDA powder. When SWIM partook in this he was also dancing and he saw the user (female) blackout for less than a minute, during that time she looked very zoned out and when she regained consciousness had the usual feelings one gets after a blackout, only, she told me that this time had been "tainted mystic" whatever that means. Can't recall the tablet's logo tho, can only remember they were pink.
With pure MDA I have never seen this tho', maybe there was something else in the pills; then again maybe not and it was the body's reaction to shut down, reseting from so much internal/external activity combined with the usual dehyration and exhaustion one gets when dancing. Can you tell if the chronology somehow fits with the blackouts in SWIY's case? I mean if these blackouts happened exclusively after dancing or engaging in any other energy-demanding activity. |

Re: Blackouts and MDA
I cannot give a good answer to that as SWIM and friends did not use MDA in other settings than at parties. And if SWIM and friends are at parties, then they are dancing.

Re: Blackouts and MDA
SWIJ assumes the "blackouts" are actually anterograde amnesia, where the brain simply fails to form new memories for a period of time.
SWIJ experienced this profoundly on the two occasions where she knowingly ingested MDA. It was also common at the end of a night on MDMA in her "ridiculous quantities" phase. Maybe because of the metabolism of MDMA to MDA? EDIT: Maybe because she was less asiduous in testing her drugs back then? Last edited by Jatelka; 25-11-2006 at 20:32. |
