potency question in SP

Hi all - question here is baffling SWIM - SWIM picks up big 3 foot healthy SP specimens from local nursery. Two different plants at different times. Also tried another from somewhere else. Preperation was fairly normal - boil an hour, strain well. That's it. BUT SWIM notices they are all WEAK!! 8 inch equivalents per dose. No visuals, not much of anything - pleasant but weak. Is SWIM doing something wrong? Should SWIM instead look for a distressed plant instead of a healthy one? What's the trick? 12 inch?

swir should try eating a little more next time of the same cacti. On can simmer the liquid down to syrup and get a better idea of how strong they are. But remeber ever cacti (if grown from seed) is different. and by saying 8" long no one can tell how much one ate. How fat is it and many other things that will effect the answer.

My pet rat pete ate a foot of 4.5 inch diameter SP over the past hour or so. Any less and would have a hard time noticing a thing, he squeaks.

It is impossible to compare what your have to what swir or anyone has that may or may not be enough of a different cacti or may even be to much.

I don't use SP. I told you it was pete. And he was speaking about what it usually takes to get him off, not anybody else.

And, while you are correct in noting a huge variation from one cacti to the next, if you do some RESEARCH:

with an unknown stock it is prudent to "nibble up". what's the worst
that could happen? well, you might take more than the maximum safe
dose. WRT mescaline, we have ott's figure of 1000 mg. ok, let's not
do that. so let's ask ourselves how much of the *strongest possible*
SP it would take to get 1000 mg of mescaline, and let's not take more
than that much of any untried SP. threshold dose is 150mg, so you know
you need to take *at least* that much to have any effect at all with an
unknown SP. or peyote.

WRT the strongest SP on record, you would not want to take more than
about 1 1/2 lbs. but this means that you can confidently take 1 1/2
lbs of *any* known SP w/o overdose. and you need to take a minimum of
~ 4oz of this SP to have any effect, so don't waste your time with any
less than this of *any* SP.

This may help the OP with their question more than I have. It's quite a logical little principle.

Of course Pete will generally disregard it on the basis that he has to get his SP shipped from the US to Europe, and therefore has a very small chance of being sent an extremely potent one, so he will usually double up at least.

This is very irresponsible on the part of pete, my pet rat, but when I tell him so he just responds with "Self delusion, so sweet innit!"

^^^ swib agrees with the research and has done it. never was stated swib did not agree just quoted swir since swir stated a lenght not weight like your research states. and a cacti sent a far distance will weight less than a fresh one. but syrup will help get an estimate of the potency more than weight and much more than a lenght fresh, semi fresh or even dry cacti. much more reliable way
