Question overdose

SWIM was wondering how what is considered to be an overdose with adderall and what initially occurs, and what the usual outcome is. it sounds kinda like a high fever in most cases - what would be a good hint he might wanna get immediate medical attention?

Re: overdose

Got this from a google search:

Symptoms of an Adderall overdose include restlessness, tremor, rapid breathing, confusion, hallucinations, panic, aggressiveness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, an irregular heartbeat, and seizures.

Basically if SWIY is concerned about a rapid or irregular heartbeat or is getting flushed, now might be a good time to go get help!

This from another search:

Overdose symptoms occasionally occur as an Individual patient response to amphetamines varies widely. While toxicidiosyncrasy at doses as low as 2 mg, they are rare with doses of less than 15 mg; 30 mg can produce severe reactions, yet doses of 400 to 500 mg are not necessarily fatal.

Basically an overdose looks like overstimulation/hypercardia/tachycardia followed by a CNS depression period where the body is unable to keep up that level of output.

Re: overdose

Didn't cash OD on multiple drugs during that tour? SWIM doesnt know, he saw the movie about a year ago.

Outcome for an OD would likely be the treatment of symptoms, perhaps with a beta blocker for the heart rate, benzodiazepines for the cognitive symptoms. Perhaps charcoal if any amphetamine is left in the stomach. But theres not a nalaxone-like drug that will reverse amphetamine OD to SWIM's knowledge.

Serious results might occur if the heart is beating too fast, for too long. Mainly they'd be of a physical nature. Mentally SWIM would expect a pretty serious crash that would last for a couple of days.

Re: overdose

If SWIY has the belief that he OD'd, maybe it would be best to call poison control first and see what they say?

Re: overdose

he says he took between somwhere around 300-350 mg suggesting around 12-13 25 mg capsules taken at different times throughout the day from 11 am to 4:30 pm....he thinks its not life-threatening but he knows he over-amped it.

Re: overdose

If an Adderall overdose of about, let's say, 150 mg that one does not seek medical attention for occurs, what are the potential long term health risks? And what would be done to treat it after a considerable amount of time had passed?

Thank you.

Re: overdose

SWiY could take a few grams of pure amphetamine if he wanted to. It may be really scary, and he might feel like he's going insane, he could even pass out. It wouldn't be like overdosing on opiates or something though, but SWiY would be in for a scary ride. Just don't worry about dying or something, at least not in those small amounts.

3 grams in a day is very common where SWiM lives, even with little to no tolerance. SWiM rarely exceeds 100 mg's, but that's because he has had his share of multi-gram binges, often resulting in a couple of days filled with paranoia.

Needless to say, don't take large amounts of stimulants if you are having heart-issues or or other conditions that could have a negative impact on your health.

Wow, um yes it certainly can be life threatening in huge doses, he definitely over amped and at a short interval. Be careful and swim would advise swiy not to take any more and watch the heart rate.

Good grief swim bets. That is a major dosage. Probably why swim wasn't checking out dates. Swim is glad you made it through that ordeal at any rate.

Re: overdose

SWIM took a 30mg Adderall XR about 5 hours ago and took it normally. Didn't feel anything cause he didn't realize it was XR so SWIM just crushed up the beads and is ready to parachute another 30mg XR. Is this dangerous? The dosages you guys are talkin about make it seem not so dangerous.

Re: overdose

Some of these people may be regular meth users and are trying to reach that same state, keep in mind we don't know their history and tolerance.

Re: overdose

Swim was a long time meth user still is unfortunately. No swim knows when to lay off the addys. Not as pleasing but will kill cravings for a while. But not recommended that meth users kicking do that, it could make cravings worse for some. 120 mg? Depends on tolerance as it builds fast. When swim does them, she usually sticks to 60-80 mgs railed also.

Re: overdose

SWIM usually rails 60mg of crushed up XR before work, takes a whole 30mg XR properly after getting in the car (T+0:30), chews the beads from another 30mg right before getting to work (T+0:50), takes a 30 on break (T+4:00), takes another 30 at lunch (T+7:00), takes another 30 upon embarking for the drive home (T+9:30), rails 60mg when SWIM gets home (T+10:00), rails another 30mg and swallows a capsule with beads in tact full of half a 30, so roughly 15mg of XR a half hour to an hour later (T+10:30-T+11:00), then finally takes the other 15mg or XR two hours later (T+13:00). About 30 minutes before going to bed SWIM will rail .5mg of Klonopin. SWIM says sometimes additional doses of .25mg are taken orally throughout the day, but that's a rare occassion.

So I guess that means SWIM takes 360mg of Adderall over a 13 hour period of time....daily. SWIM says they feel tired all day and the effects of the Adderall aren't hardly felt, even though SWIM sleeps a good 8 hours every night. SWIM will tell anybody how much tolerance really sucks, even though SWIM has only been on Adderall daily for about 3 weeks.

SWIM originally railed 90mg over an hour to start SWIM's addiction. SWIM says the high was amazing, and has never felt anything close to that again. SWIM says he used to chew half the beads from a 30 on his break and swallow the rest whole and he would feel a huge rush...but now SWIM can rail 90mg at once and not feel a thing.

SWIM says he does over 1000mg over three days and stayed awake for 70 hours last week, so SWIM thinks this tolerance could be fresh from the massive amount of adderall usage last week.
