Fresh warning over 'bad heroin' (London)

This from the BBC News website:

Fresh warning over 'bad heroin'

Officers say the deaths of four drug users may be related

Police have cautioned drug-users about a suspected batch of bad heroin after two men were found dead in east London.
One victim, 30, was found at a house in Ilford Lane, in Ilford, while another man, 50, was discovered in Valentines Park, in Ilford, clutching a syringe.
The latest warning comes just days after two other drug-users were found dead in south London. Officers say both incidents may be related.
Officers in Redbridge said the batch of narcotics was "particularly lethal".
Local circulation
Both victims, who were discovered on 5 November, are yet to be identified but police believe that both men may have purchased the drugs locally.
Det Insp Ronan McManus said: "The batch of heroin that seems to be in circulation at the moment appears to be particularly lethal and by putting out this warning we can help people make informed decisions. "We also urge anyone who may get into difficulties and become ill through the use of drugs to seek medical help as soon as possible," he said. On Thursday, police in Lambeth in south London warned drug-users about a batch of 'lethal' drugs in circulation locally.

Unhappy Looks like the bad batch has surfaced in Dublin

Six Dublin deaths may be due to bad heroin
www.unison.ie/
Gardaí are investigating the possibility that contaminated heroin may have led to deaths of six addicts in Dublin.

The deaths occurred in three city hospitals - St Vincent's, Beaumont and the Mater - and post mortems have been carried out on the bodies.

Gardaí suspect that a contaminated consignment of the drug may have been responsible for the fatalities.

Bad heroin warning after 6 addicts die

www.ireland.com
Six heroin addicts have died in the last week in Dublin after using a suspected contaminated batch of the drug, it emerged today.

Officers at the Garda National Drug Unit issued a warning to all users in the capital who were feeling unwell to attend hospital.

The deaths of the men and women in their 20s and 30s occurred in three city hospitals - four at the Mater, one at St Vincent's and one in Beaumont - and post mortem examinations have been carried out on the bodies.

But gardai are awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine if the users may have been poisoned by bad heroin.

The six who died lived in various parts of the city and were brought to casualty at different times.

Re: Fresh warning over 'bad heroin' (London)

Worrying stuff. In Ireland, Polish dealers have started to mix actual concrete into bags of weed in order to bulk up the weight. It's believed that they can turn six kilos of weed into ten. Some of the buds are rock hard! It doesn't surprise me that the heroin supply can be contaminated also.

Exclamation Three die amid 'bad heroin' fears

news.bbc.co.uk
Three drug users have died in a week after injecting themselves with "contaminated" heroin, police fear.

Two men and a woman, aged in their 20s, died in separate incidents while a fourth man remains seriously ill.

Syringes and drugs paraphernalia were recovered near the victims at both addresses in Hackney, east London.

"There could be a batch currently in circulation which may pose a potentially lethal threat," said Det Insp Daniel Smith.

'Be careful'

Two men were found dead by police on Tuesday in Arcola Street. They have yet to be formally identified.

On Saturday, police found two people, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, collapsed in a property in Whiston Road.

Both were taken to Homerton Hospital where the woman died. The man remains in a serious condition.

Det Insp Smith said: "We are warning drug users in Hackney to be especially careful.

"If you have taken drugs and feel unwell I'd urge you to seek urgent medical attention."
