Question a theme song for every drug

an answer to a post on GHB made me think:

"sidebar: i have listened closely, and i believe rapper ton loc's late eighties hit 'funk cold medina' is about GHB. GHB being the mystical 'medina' that he glorifies and uses to drive women wild, especially at bars. if that isn't true, the song should still be GHB's theme song.

upon reflection, each drug deserves it's own theme song. any ideas?

(for instance)

GHB-"Funky Cold Medina" by Ton Loc

heroin-"Pennyroyal Tea" by Nirvana (or almost any Nirvana song)

ephedrine-"Bucephalus Bouncing Ball" by Aphex Twin

Re: a theme song for every drug

Not quite theme songs, but I have a number of songs that are relating to or at least have the drugs name in the title or something. I'll just list a bunch.

Cocaine

C.O.N. Sequencer - Cocaine Speaking
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
Grateful Dead - Cocaine
Immortal Technique - Peruvian Cocaine
Yakooza - Cocaine (DJ Wag Remix)

Cannabis (way too many to list them all)

Afroman - Because I Got High
Peter Tosh - Legalize It
Steppenwolf - Pusher
The Fraternity of Man - Don't Bogart Me
Cypress Hill - Hits From The Bong
Ska-P - Cannabis
Afroman - Tumbleweed
Bob Marley - Smoke Two Joints
Sublime - Lets Go Get Stoned
311 - Hydroponic
311 - Whos Got The Herb?
X-Press 2 - Lazy (don't you tell me this isn't a stoner song!)

Ecstasy

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Ecstasy (you gotta listen to this, quite funny)
Yakooza - Ecstasy
ATB - Ecstasy
1200 Mics - Ecstasy

well basically any good electronic music song is a good theme song for ecstasy. songs that don't mention the word ecstasy are generally better than the ones that do. whatever.

some good Ecstasy theme songs would be:
Fingers Inc. (aka Larry Heard) - Can You Feel It
Primal Scream - Come Together
Daft Punk - Digital Love

Screw it.... at this point im just going to list random drug-related songs I can think of or find in my music library.

Primal Scream - Loaded
1200 Mics - Ayahuasca
1200 Mics - Magic Mushrooms
1200 Mics - Salvia Divinorum
Shpongle - Divine Moments of Truth (think what acronym it forms)
Xzibit - Alkaholic
Weezer - Hash Pipe
Velvet Underground - Heroin (how did no one mention this yet?!? its the original drug theme song!)
Leftfield - A Final Hit
Garth Brooks - Beer Run
Dropkick Murphys - Barroom Hero
Dropkick Murphys - Irish Drinking Song (its great for when you're plastered and need something to sing along to)
Dead Kennedys - Too Drunk To Fuck
The Dead 60's - We Get Low
Tool - Opiate
Sublime - S.T.P.
Sublime - Get Ready
Sublime - Scarlet Begonias (the rap part is sick!)
Sublime - 40 oz to Freedom
Space Safari - Smoke
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Gin n' Juice
Raggasonic - Legalisez la Ganja
Prodigy - 3 Kilos (the song makes me think of rolling around in a pimped out Escalade with a bunch of coke for some reason, it just fits so perfectly!)
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Felix Da Housecat - Silver Screen
GMS - LSD
Aphrodite - Cokaine
Underworld - 8 Ball
Underworld - Born Slippy Nuxx (its about going home to Romford really drunk in case you can't figure out the lyrics)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (yes its about Waters being given drugs before a concert so he could get through it, applied to 'Pink' of course though)

finallly, Pink Floyd - Nobody Home I just feel the song fits in with addiction and withdrawal both in the physical and psychological sense. You become detached from reality and apathetic and often can feel cut off from society.

dealers: velvet underground- im waiting for the man
(for all us unfortunate SWIMs who still have to sit around and wait on some greedy fucked up asshole for our "research")

scrips?: nine inch nails- the perfect drug

marijuana/injustice: toots and the maytals- 54-46 that's my number
(classic reggae about getting arrested, i think with herb)

LSD: the beatles- lucy in the sky with diamonds

the beatles- revolution #9
(something is going on there)

MDMA?: digital underground- sex packets
(vague, but definitely describes some pill that drives people crazy with lust...MDMA?)

alcohol: one scotch, one bourbon, one beer...im not sure who wrote that. the only copy i have is some ska cover.

heroin: miles davis

LSD: the orb- little fluffy clouds

alcohol: price paul- drinks

alcohol: skavoovie and the epitones- hi-ball

Bajeda said it, almost all electronica is fully adaptable to MDMA. maybe even all labratory drugs period. just like many more mellow jam-bands can be tied to herb and mushrooms. especially the grateful dead, a lot of phish. which is interesting because even their lyrics can be applie to many.

the beatles; from the rubber soul album onwards, (1965-). even though i read that they renounced drug use in 1967 as they played sitars and meditated. i somehow doubt their abstinence though, i think it was a publicity thing.

ps--->scarlet begonias was originally a grateful dead song, it is still pretty sick.

lol you didn't need to tell me. I like the added part in the Sublime song though, it gives the whole song more of a drugs feel too.

That would be 1 bourbon 1 scotch and 1 beer, and that was the great "Lonesome George" George Thorogood.

Personally I think " I Drink Alone" is one of the greatest drinking songs ever. most any of G.T. & The Destroyers.

"Golden Brown"- Stranglers, of course

"Chip Away"- Jane's Addiction, hadn't really thought of this one in a while but Perry Farrell hit it pretty good.

"Junkhead"- Alice in Chains, Layne Stayley was great. that is all.

"Under the Bridge"- Red Hot Chili Peppers, I love this band so much I got a chili pepper tattooed in my armpit. no shit- true story.

you can tell what SWIM has on his mind.

Actually it was John Lee Hooker who wrote this song, not G.T. Both versions are excellent though.

Also, Eric Clapton's big hit "Cocaine" was written by J.J. Cale (who also wrote "After Midnight", another hit for Clapton)

Cocaine:
Pretty much every Parliament song you can think of. If you replace the lyric "funk" with "coke" (as in "make my coke the P-coke, I wants to get coked up") you'll get an idea of what George Clinton was all about, i.e. lots of cokey funk and dancing.

"Cop N Blow", "South American Sneeze", "Fire and Desire" and many other songs by Rick James are not so thinly veiled coke songs. I may be reading too much into it, but "Fire and Desire" seems to lyrically parallel the circumstances surrounding Rick James' crackpipe kidnapping charges.

"Glamour Profession" by Steely Dan. "It's the L.A. concession"

Heroin:
"Spoonful" by Willie Dixon (Howling Wolf did the best rendition IMO)
"Charley Freak" by Steely Dan is another good one.
"Heroin", "Waiting for the Man", "Perfect Day" are all obvious choices too.

Marijuana:
Too many to name, but my favorite is
"Mary Jane" by Rick James

Don't know if you knew or not, but "penny-royal tea" is actually a tea used as an abortificant, that is to cause an abortion, you know "still the life thats inside of me".
Anybody else heard the song "Sandoz" by Eric Burton and The Animals? Sandoz is the company Albert Hoffman was working for when he first synthesized LSD. Awesome trip song!

Opiates: The Velvet Underground songs "Heroin" and "Sister Ray"
Just going to use bands and genres of music for these:
Hallucinogens: Dead Can Dance, Infected Mushroom and similar artists...also some prog rock like Dredg. Swim found listening to the "Rolling Stones" while on mushrooms after she watched the movie "stoned" was interesting...especially when her partner started doing one of the same dances to the same song that the character of Jones was dancing to in the movie during a rather psychedelic sequence/scene.
Dissociatives: Ambient music or similar music to that of hallucinogens. TOOl can be nice at times. Also, psychedelic music from the 60's and 70's.
Cannabis: Most rap, Sublime, or any sort of "feel good" music.

DMT - Father Bruce by The Great Society, who became Jefferson Airplane. About how Hugh Romney (Wavy Gravy) gave Lenny Bruce a hit of DMT as Lenny was sitting on a windowsill..."out the window he fell! Oh Lenny! We're so glad you're getting well, well, well, well!"
