Amanitas have a very intense smell
So SWIM got his ounce from the mail box today of dried muscarias and right off noticed the intense smell. It's hard to describe... almost beefy smelling. Like a stew smell or something. Maybe beef jerky smelling. Anyways, even swims dogs noticed the unusual meaty smell. SWIM ate like 11 g and is noticing mild body change... considering taking more or not.

SWIM tried three semi-fresh caps on september and it was nothing like that. He freaked really out. Swim thinks that you're Amanita isn't so good...

Re: Amanitas have a very intense smell
From what Swim hears they need to be dried for the ibotenic acid to convert to muscimol. Muscimol good ibotenic acid, possible convulsions not such a hot time.
Btw Swim had a ounce of Amanita Pantherina show up today and there wasn't a pronounce smell, more of a mild well dried mushroom smell. 11grams and swim was only mildly buzzed? that sounds alittle bit off but who knows. |

Re: Amanitas have a very intense smell
The people of Siberia would write of taking one large sun-dried cap and two smaller ones. But in that these 'shrooms vary in active ingredients greatly, unlike the homegrown Psilocybe Cubensis, one may well be playing Russian-Roulette: You could find very little effect, or become one of the Berserkers and go trash the village.
It is from devotees of these mushrooms that we get the word "Berserk" from. In the last analysis, these are not for taking as a common recreational substance. Taking these and going to a dance might be fun one night. Might have you taken away in leather-straps another in an ambulance. |

Re: Amanitas have a very intense smell
SWIM decided to finish them off and ate 16gm's dried, and noticed a pretty strong body high... definetely somewhat intoxicated... parts of SWIM's body and head felt "numb." Felt very cozy and interesting. Somewhat of a dizzy feeling. Nothing too enjoyable, but a unique experience to say the least. Doubt SWIM will be ordering any more of these in the future... too variable.

Re: Amanitas have a very intense smell
Fly agarics do indeed seem to have an odd smell... not necessarily extremely strong, you couldn't smell it from across the room, but so odd when you get right up close and sniff it... vaguely chickeny and meety, but also strangely sort of virile smelling, almost sexual in a way... odd, odd organisms on many levels.
