Question for the chemists

Lately SWIM has come across quite a few pills that "gel up" when they are disolved in water, creating a bunch of slimey crap that is impossible to work with.

It seems like there would be a sollution for the gel if you have some chemical know how. Is there anyway of maybe freezing a water pill mixture to seperate the gel from the drug? Or maybe cooking it out somehow?

Re: Question for the chemists

SWIM has read reports of people trying to cook the gel in a spoon, but that it did not work for them. Somehow freezing seems out too, although there may be more of a chance for this to work if the binders had different freezing points that were obtainable in a home freezer. Perhaps a simple reaction could work, like an acid/base one? But SWIM's forte is not chemistry, alas! SWIM hopes someone can answer this because he would really like to know the answer too.
