The Power of Dreams
This is a real dream by the way....
SWIM had a very odd dream the other night, he was with friends and taking a lot of e and research chems. In the dream it felt as though he really was on the drugs he had taken in his dream. When he woke up the rushing feeling associated with E was still present for around a whole minute after waking up. Obviously this was a very good dream to be having but SWIM was wondering if anyone else had gotten high in their dreams and if it had "bled over" into their waking life for a few moments after waking?SWIMs theory is that if his brain really thought it was on drugs then it simulated the response that it would normally produce on these chemicals, and if that is true, does that mean to attain the state of highness SWIM had experienced before he could meditate our way to that state again? All in all a very strange experience! |

Re: The Power of Dreams
Interesting, but not very strange. It is easily explainable.
As you may know, the thing what we perceive as reality is just a sum of stimuli which our brain registeres. I mean, if somebody was blind and deaf and had no olfactive and tactile sense, this person wouldn't live in the reality, as there is no connection between this person and reality. The brain can create the impression of reality even without those stimuli being present. This is called dreaming, usually. The stimuli are not really present, but they come from our subconciousness and they do exist. So, if SWIY dreamt about taking E and RCs, the brain could've generated "virtual" stimuli similar to the drug experience. The part with feeling high after waking up is indeed strange but not unusual. Just think about a dream when you heard a ring at the door and then you woke up and the phone was ringing. Or similar. The short rush SWIY described could be also from the brain, and from what you said I think the feeling was present until the brain switched from "dreaming mode" to "conciousness mode". About the body producing the drugs, this could happen with DMT/GHB/etc. because those are present in the human body (endogenous), but MDMA - no way. I would like to have such dreams though...

Re: The Power of Dreams
Many people coming off of a drug addiction may experience similar things as well. When SWIM quit mainlining cocaine, SWIM would have vivid dreams that felt as though SWIM was actually there fixing up a shot, and eventually shooting it. The rush would begin and SWIM would quickly wake up feeling the rush even once awake, momentarily before realizing it was only a dream.

Re: The Power of Dreams
Ya, SWIM has felt this before.
He dreamt he was on acid, and when he woke, for a good ~20 mins he still thought he was tripping. There were some visuals, like "hanging yellow string" from the ceiling, and a spectrum of sunlight from the window. These were probably precipitated from partially closed eye-lids. There was no physical sensation or real psychological effects, other than the thought that he was high, which lasted many minuets. Everyone has thoughts like "was that a dream or not?" upon waking, but for SWIM it felt especially strong and real. |

Re: The Power of Dreams
SWIM's had similar dreams involving LSD and salvia use. Within that deeper state of consciousness it's possible to imagine almost anything. The mind is amazing in what it can create within itself.
