IV Morphine

Howdy Folks,

SWIM wants to get down with some 100mg morphine sulfate extended release pills. He us used to IV but is not so familiar with morphine.

SWIM is guessing the preparation is going to be pretty much typical to the usual prep for IV, any tips are greatly welcome though.

Also what is a good beginning dose? And what would be a good dose with some opiate tolerance?

I couldn't find the "Edit" buttn on my first post so I had to make a second...anyway for an update, SWIM has a spoon full of blue thick "guck".

He was gonna go ahead and do 25mg and another 25 if the first went well but how the hell do you manage this blue slime??

10 mg is usually a starting IV dose for a person with no tolerance. If SWIY has a moderate tolerance 25 mg might still be safe to start with, but no guarantees. SWIM has not used IV so he may not be the best source of information here. Don't try to shoot the guck until someone provides a better explanation of how to get rid of it. SWIM knows that the makers of some pills create ones that gel up when they come into contact with water, to prevent shooting. The gunk could be very dangerous if shot as-is. SWIM has heard that repeated filterings can sometimes help with oxycontin that gels up, and would imagine that a similar method could be used with the morphine, but tell SWIY to PLEASE NOT SHOOT until he gets a better answer than swim can provide, dont want anything bad happening to swiy!!

Thanks for the advice Forthesevenlakes. Those dosages sound reasonable to me.

SWIM ended up drinking the gel down with some orange juice. He did try seperating a small amount with some water in an attempt to filter little bits at a time but it simply made thinner gel.

How does one go about preparing this stuff?

For IV? No idea how to do that if it's gelling, it may not even be possible. SWIM thinks that the best bet might be insufflation, but again, start with a low dose.

Perhaps someone else knows a trick.

If no, I will try snorting like you mentioned. It was disappointing orally.

Morphine has very low bioavailability orally, and somewhat higher bioavailability when insufflated or used rectally. With a lower dosage, the rectal route could work well also.

Yea judging by the bioavailability chart, I have a feeling SWIM's ass is gonna be visited by some morphine here pretty soon, unless someone knows a secret for preping this gunk for injection...
