Collective Unconcious

new here.

just thought i'd see what people have to say about group psyche and jung's "collective unconcious." with the advent of technology, it seems to more relevant than ever...almost physicaly tangilble. especially in a forum like this.

"the meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed"
-carl jung, "man in search of a soul" (1933)

peace.

Re: collective unconcious

I strongly believe that we are ALL connected. even though you dont know it your brain is currently communicating with all the ppl around you. and if the theories that the frequencies at which the brain communicates with others can travel the gloabe then you are also communicating with every single brain in the world.

some ppl including myself believe that this large scale human network forms a conciousness of its own. which if you take it that way is what ppl know as "God". the greater mind exists. and once you realize this most everything falls into place. it was quite an amazing high when i realized this. epiphanies are my favorite drug.

Re: collective unconcious

Wouldn't this be comparablew to the gruop mentality regarding Ayahuasca? Anybody who's taken Ayahuasca in a group will have noticed the all seem to have a simmillar trip. I believe that to be an example of the "Collective Unconsciouss".

Re: collective unconcious

right on.
wickepedia.com says:
"The collective unconscious refers to that part of a person's unconscious which is common to all human beings. It contains archetypes, which are forms or symbols that are manifested by all people in all cultures. They are said to exist prior to experience, and are in this sense instinctual. Critics have argued that this is an ethnocentrist view, which universalized Jung's European-styled archetypes into human beings' archetypes.
Less mystical proponents of the Jungian model hold that the collective unconscious can be adequately explained as arising in each individual from shared instinct, common experience, and shared culture. The natural process of generalization in the human mind combines these common traits and experiences into a mostly identical substratum of the unconscious.
For example, the archetype of "the great mother" would be expected to be very nearly the same in all people, since all infants share inherent expectation of having an attentive caretaker (human instinct); every surviving infant must either have had a mother, or a surrogate (common experience); and nearly every child is indoctrinated with society's idea of what a mother should be (shared culture). The amalgam of all these effects could be the source of the shared figure, or archetype, which reportedly appears very nearly the same in most peoples' dreams.
Regardless of whether the individual's connection to the collective unconscious arises from mundane or mystical means, the term collective unconscious describes an important commonality that is observed to exist between different individuals' dreams. It was simply formulated by Jung as a model."

often it seems like people do all have similar trips. especially when you trip hard enough to formulate images in your head, or flat out hallucinate. a lot of these images seen, and concepts formulated exhibit some of these achitypical characters, which are common to all human's in jung's world.

so there's collective unconcious prior to computers. then the computers are all linked. eventually the user's share every bit of knowlege, pholosphy, and images with eachother. it has become a nearly tangible thing, something jung may have expected, but didnt talk so much about from what i have read.

then there's a forum like this, where thousands of members are doing active research in the name of exlporing the psyche thoroughly. you can gain access to all of it and never have to trip at all.

i suppose this could hold true to knowlege about anything and it is best learned by doing. this could go on and on, eventually leading to god, or the spirit of the universe.

i have to go finish my laundry.

peace.

Probably encoded in our genome. Our gene expression gives us our subconscious drives. And it is now known gene expression filters how memories are formed.

Re: collective unconcious

i think I heard the term silimar to "self-metaprogramers" first used by Robert Anton Wilson. Einstein, DaVinci, Buddha could most likely be considered self-metaprograms. One's that understood relationship-patterns and could apply their derived knowledge. I understand metaprograming as involving high levels of awareness to realize the full extent of humanitys' capabilities and potentials as pertaining to consciousness. These capabilities are not confined to the dimension of spatial-time; thus, this acquired knowledge applies to all persons of any time. It has been asserted that this infinate knowledge is transmitted from the original life-giving force.

So as NOly stated, we all are connected via the original life-giving force. It seems that humanity has always been connected with the entirerty of the human existance and shares a personal connectedness with humanity's Creator.
Knowledge is nothing without application. Wisdom, truth, and unity will always prevail.
