Deal or No Deal
Hypothetically. If god or the devil assured you that a very wide spectrum of illegal drugs would suddenly be made legal worldwide, but the deal was that you could never ever touch any drug ever again, except those prescribed by a medical doctor for a specific condition or ailment. Would you make the deal?

If that would include regulation of substances suited for their abuse, I'd do it without a second thought. If it would mean total free for all, I would decline.

I would take the deal fixing a lot of injustice through out the world and I still got my beer and ssri's. Plus there is plenty of legal enthneogen's out there swim loves.

Probably. It would be a good excuse for SWIM to quit (almost) everything forever without regret, & so much fun to watch everyone else enjoying that it would probably be worth it .

Interesting opposite parallel, in that SWIM knew moderation as a younger fellow but has apparently concluded recently that it's worthless (an even better reason than SWIY's, being that there's not much that can be done about past actions but quite a lot about current ones).

I (the hypothetical I, of course) would not. That would make ME the only outlaw in an entire world of law-abiding tweakers, stoners and dopers? How unfair. No god who truly loves her people would make that offer. Think about it. If it's legal, there's going to be a multi-billion dollar/pound/euro business around safe and entertaining consumption: opium dens with comfy recliners, Amsterdam-style coffeeshops throughout the whole world, onsite dentists for speed freaks, the whole bit. And I'm the only sorry sonofabitch in the ENTIRE WORLD who can't partake? Wow. Nope. Sorry, that's just a little too heavy. Let it be someone else - some God-fearing Christian soul who thinks it's all a sin no matter what. Nobody wants those types sitting in the comfy recliner next to them anyway. No, you wouldn't have beer or legal entheogens, the post said "you could never touch drugs apart from those prescribed by a doctor".
