PEMOLINE MAGNESIUM for Super Brains?
In my area it is illegal, in wich country could it be legal PEMOLINE MAGNESIUM -- [2-imino-5-phenyl-4-oxazolidinonato(2)-] diaquomagnesium. Material: A complex from equimolar mixture of pemoline and magnesium hydroxide under study in Abbott Laboratories as an adjunct to learning and memory. Usage: 50-100 mg taken orally each morning for 10-14 consecutive days. The effects are cumulative. Results are most noticeable when combined with high protein diet, abundant vitamin C and balanced B complex intake, and adequate calcium and magnesium consumption. For more pronounced and immediate effects as a cerebral and CNS stimulant, 200-500 mg of pemoline magnesium may be taken at once. Effects: Larger dosage acts as a CNS stimulant and psychic stimulant, improving mental faculties, especially memory, for 6-24 hours. Its effects are similar to the amphetamines without causing dryness of mucous membrane tissues and cardiac stress. Smaller consecutive doses act as mild CNS and psychic stimulant and accumulate magnesium in cerebral synapses. Magngesium acts as a catalyst conductor in the synapses of the brain's memory centers. Taken in this manner magnesium pemoline may increase efficiency of memory up to 560% in both young persons and senile older people. After completing the series these effects may last from several weeks to several months, tapering gradually. Effects can be regained by taking booster series when needed. It can be taken either while or while attempting to recall learned material. Assists RNA formation in brain. Contraindications: Large doses (or even smaller doses if taken too soon before retiring) may interfere with sleep. Supplier: CS, RX. |

I know this thread is very old but i cant resist resolving it. Pemoline is what used to be Cylert for ADHD/ADD and was discontinued due to the FDA finding it caused liver damage in a few people (some of which died) with every day use. It is a pity.

Bugger, its banned here too . . .
According to 'Changes to the misuse of drugs act 2003': Pemoline is a central nervous system stimulant that has been used to treat attention deficit disorder and narcolepsy, but due to its amphetamine-like effects it has been abused in countries such as Belgium, Germany, Thailand, the United Kingdom and Argentina. It was approved as a prescription medicine in New Zealand in 1964, and was withdrawn in 1989. There is evidence that users may develop a psychological dependence to pemoline, but the drug’s pharmacological action does not lead to physical dependence. Acute overdose of pemoline can lead to death, and it has also been connected to a small number of fatalities due to its toxicity to the liver. The Misuse of Drugs (Changes to Controlled Drugs) Order 2003: classifies Pemoline and Aminorex as Class C5 drugs. |

Cylert, which can easily be converted to it's magnesium version, had been in existence since the 1930's. It first gained notariety during World War II when it was given to Allied fliers to help them remain alert during night bombing missions over German and German-occupied territory. It later was used to treat ADHD and depression.
For it's memory-enhancing effects as a magnesium salt, it was tried by taking it for 2 weeks everyday, then a week rest, followed by another week. It was during this last week that it was supposed to have it's magic effect. Bongo tried this, and on the last week ventured on a high dosage of mescaline sulfate. It seemed to allow Bongo to recall the experience and feelings to a greater degree afterwards than was normal for him. This effect lasted for an unknown period of time as reference points were difficult to identify and/or prove with certainty. Last Analysis: It was interesting, but the stimulant effects were unpleasant to Bongo. It felt like drinking too much coffee and headaches were common. Bongo was glad he tried this course with this novel molecule, but would not bother to again. |

Re: PEMOLINE MAGNESIUM for Super Brains?
Hey, Nagognog2 is absolutely right, and if anyone really checks this out, as late as Sep 2004 the US army still admits to dispensing pemoline for ADD and "narcolepsy" [see the "Keller Formulary" page] and when they say narcolepsy, they mean pep pills. Basically, soldiers are expected to perform at abnormal rates for abnormal periods, and the US army doses them up with all sorts including simple caffeine, ritalin, pemoline and more to achieve this, in men with no legitimate medical problems. Back in the wars, [lots of them] soldiers have always been some of the first to get all sorts of new drugs, in WWI it was heroin and coke [true!] in their medical kits, then in WWII it was morphine and methedrine, in vietnam it was still more amphetamines and all sorts of synth opiates like pethidine, and in the gulf they gave them pemoline to stay awake, and temazepam to sleep.
There was a great movie made about the latter day use of mind benders in the military, called "The need for speed: Going to War on Drugs" and sometimes the soldiers would commit terrible atrocities while strung out, doped up or just plain exhausted in this drug induced zombie-like state. The pem and mag combo was featured in the original 'legal highs' book, which said that the main effect was improved memory that supposedly persisted beyond discontinuation of the course of use. Also, in combo with mag, the pemoline was supposed to be used in lower doses, and in the morning. Lots of students used to take it about 15 years ago. |

Re: PEMOLINE MAGNESIUM for Super Brains?
Hello,
I was reading a discussion about Pemoline last night, and when I went to bed, I had the strangest dreams. In my dreams I tried to perform the synthesis of Pemoline exactly like on this page: http://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodiu.../pemoline.html In the last step, when I added water, solution became only milky, there were no precipitated crystals. So I figured what if I acidify the solution a little... In my dreams, I acidified the solution with sulfuric acid, because I didn't have any hydrochloric acid. (what a nightmare). After adding a few drops, large mass of crystals started to appear. I was just wondering, would Pemoline precipitated with sulfuric acid (after washing and neutralizing) be safe to ingest? In my dreams, I was planing to convert it to Pemoline magnesium, but then an alarm clock went off and woke me up. |

Re: PEMOLINE MAGNESIUM for Super Brains?
This is really strange, because even at the top of this page I see the idea is pemoline chemically combined with magnesium, but I'm sure in the old books it was just dosing with magnesium supplements at the same time, ie concurrent dosing but chemically separate.
I thought the magnesium aspect was just like a mineral being taken to help nerve function, so could someone now tell me, how does chemically combining it with magnesium, how does that change the effects? |
