Salvia experiences:do they differ from time to time?

Swim just dedicated a weekend to studying salvia experiences (one smoke a day for three days with a sitter each time) Mostly swim was curious for the sake of constructing an art piece to reflect on the experience, but the trips leave her wondering about other things as well.

SWIM's had very similar trips:

SWIM smoked a pinch of 20x powder. Her mind went blank, no memories, no thoughts.... nothing. She didn't pass out, because her sitter vouched that as soon as the pipe was taken away she started to giggle. No fear was perceived, no curiosity either....nothing.

The more SWIM lasted through this trip the more she began to begin to think again. She realized she was stuck in a loop, (giggle fit) and couldn't stop. When her eyes were opened she saw no halucenations, just the inability to understand the structures in front of her. Even though her sitter was there, she couldn't recognize him. Everything was perceived in much the same way objects look from the corner of your eye. In other words, same quality as peripheral vision.

When she came down a little bit, swim felt as though her body was a shell. Everything thing she could see or feel felt fake. Her arms were like puppet hands. She inhabited the space behind her eyes, the only the parts of her body she couldn't perceive.

Very strange experience and she's not unhappy with the trips. It's just that each time seemed like a similar experience. Loss of self, no halucenations...just a strange sense of being.

Will SWIM ever experience anything else on salvia?

Re: Salvia experiences:do they differ from time to time?

While not about salvia divinorium alone, this thread may help a bit. Thematic or recurring qualities seem to be an aspect of many psychedelic drugs. Perhaps we are wired to experience certain drugs in a similar way each time.

The feeling of being a puppet or a fictional person in a fictional life is a reoccuring theme in my pluss-level 4 trips. Happens every time.

Re: Salvia experiences:do they differ from time to time?

In Swim's admittedly small experience with the substance, salvia seems to work by breaking down the context and assumptions that we use to perceive the world around us. He never has any real hallucinations, rather he looks at something and can't tell whether it's a person or an object. Indeed the whole distinction between people and objects, as well as other distinctions fall apart. To him it seems very much like what the world must be like to new born babies who know nothing.

The interesting effects of salvia come from the idea of breaking down these contexts which we use to view the world around us, and swim thinks the reason it causes laughing is because the basis of a lot of humor is making the real world absurd in some way. When Swim smokes he has the sensation that he gets shot off completely into salvia space, and the laughing comes once he starts to realize how screwed up his salvia perceptions were.

20x is pretty powerful stuff and perhaps you are smoking too much. It sounds as if you're completely destroying every single context you use to perceive and producing a state of dissasocation. If you don't have any perceptual contexts then the input your brain is getting will be too much. The hallucinations come from when you retain a few contexts, so that you can see crazy things because you're applying the wrong contexts (for example that object is actually a person). Maybe downgrade to the 10x, or try using less 20x then you did last time.

SWIM did concider this, and it will be taken into concideration when she havests her plants in the future. Thanks

She tried 5x once before and enjoyed the result. no halucenations...just a very mellowing experience. SWIM will try the quid method as well, she isn't done experimenting yet

Re: Salvia experiences:do they differ from time to time?

SWIMS mother-in-law has early onset alzheimers and since SWIM discovered salvia he finds it much easier to understand what she is trying to say because he recognizes the difficulties she has in remembering the names of things and people. It's not so much a degradation of intellect, but a loss of labels to put on things. It seems she has trouble labeling things and therefor also trouble in decifering their meaning, just like SWIM has on salvia.

SWIM dosen't get what he would describe as hallucinations on salvia, just a kind of glass-tile layer which covers what he sees.
