New Drug Promises to Help Prevent Premature Ejaculation

(AXcess News) Washington - Finally, a "love drug" to prolong the pleasure of sex that promises to help prevent premature ejaculation has been developed, according to a study released in the British medical journal the Lancet.

Premature ejaculation is said to be the most common form of male sexual dysfunction, affecting about 20 percent of young and middle-aged men. But despite the degree of men suffering from premature ejaculation, no drug had ever been developed to combat what is thought to be the most stress-causing problem in the bedroom between sex partners.

But according to researchers, a new drug called Dapoxetine may offer promise as a treatment for premature ejaculation in men.

A group of 2,600 men who suffered from severe premature ejaculation were selected by researchers at the University of Minnesota and given Dapoxetine one to two hours before sexual activity. What they found was a three to four-fold increase in the time before ejaculation.

In other words, compared with men who took a placebo and experienced an average of 1.75 minutes of intercourse, men taking 30 milligrams of Dapoxetine averaged 2.78 minutes, and those taking a 60 milligram dosage lasted an average of 3.32 minutes.

The study's lead author, Dr. Jon Pryor, a professor and chairman of urologic surgery at the University of Minnesota said both the men and their partners enjoyed sex more even though the length of time before ejaculation wasn't significantly increased by much.

"For this group of men, the increase in time before ejaculation was a huge improvement," said Dr. Pryor.

The term "premature ejaculation" is something of a laugh, if its meaning is analyzed. Bottom line, it's not a disorder, dysfunction or condition at all, but (an emotional reaction to) an opinion held by one's partner. Maybe the female should take a drug to shorten the time it takes her to reach orgasm?

Right, 1.75 mins is short, by anyones standards, the ones who took 60 milligrams and lasted 3.32 mins are still short, I mean for fucks sake, when Swim was 12 he could last longer then an hour no problem. So much for this wonder drug.

Drug can make men last longer

Hope for embarrassed men - and their unsatisfied partners - affected by one of the commonest sexual problems has been raised by research showing premature ejaculation can be treated safely and effectively with a new drug.

The drug, dapoxetine, more than trebled the time men on the highest dose took to ejaculate, as well as improving their sexual satisfaction and that of their partners.

It was effective even for those who suffered the worst symptoms, ejaculating within seconds of penetration, say the American researchers who publish their findings in the Lancet.

Premature ejaculation affects between a fifth and a third of men and can lead to withdrawal from sex - of either partner - and the breakdown of relationships.

The condition is widely under-treated but increasing numbers of men have been obtaining antidepressants which are known to work even though they are not licensed for the condition.

Men taking antidepressants often report a pleasing side-effect of their treatment is a capacity to "last" longer - with beneficial effects on their sexual relationships. However, the drugs can cause problems such as skin reactions, weight gain and loss of libido.

The new drug, dapoxetine, belongs to the class used in the treatment of depression but has been specifically developed as a treatment for premature ejaculation.

The study, by researchers from the University of Minnesota, involved 2600 men and their partners who were given either a placebo or a low or high dose of dapoxetine.

At the start of the 12-week study, the men ejaculated on average less than a minute after penetration. By the end, those taking the lower 30mg dose were lasting 2.78 minutes on average while those on the higher 60mg dose were lasting 3.32 minutes.

Jon Pryor, who led the study, said: "Dapoxetine improved patients' perceptions of control over ejaculation, satisfaction with sexual intercourse, and overall impression of change in condition. Partners benefited through improved satisfaction with sexual intercourse."

Alan Riley, professor of sexual medicine at the University of Central Lancashire, warned that men should be assessed before being given the drug because the condition could indicate other problems in the relationship.

Asked if delaying ejaculation by two or three minutes was sufficient to make a difference, Professor Riley said: "If a man is ejaculating in less than a minute and he can go to three minutes, that is a significant clinical improvement. Men tend to exaggerate their sexual performance."

Swim has tried it and it helped a bit but the side affects were not very nice so decided not to use again.

The side affects were not very nice, swim felt sick and confused with headache, but it helped with the pe, swim is finding tramadol a better choice at a 75mg dose 1-2hour before sex.

Anyone else try it? My Buddha Statue is getting a brand that has Viagra and Dapoxetine mixed at doses 100mg and 60mg. I will report on how it effects him though it is his first time taking Viagra so he wont be able to tell the difference until his Viagra comes in the mail too.
