Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
yes, it is possible, SWIM has read up about this and axually ordered some fly agaric spores from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and take it from SWIM, dont buy from there, they just ripped him off.
DO NOT POST SOURCES IN THE FORUMS! Last edited by Nagognog2; 10-10-2006 at 05:30. |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
Thanks for the feedback.
Any details SWIY can provide? Do they need to use some sort of tree or can they use a regular culture? Why was this place such a rip off? |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
SWIM grew his (later) without the help of a tree, and then grew fine, SWIM used the rice cake method. I should have known better then to post he name of this site, but they are just a fake shroom spore site, and when SWIM sent them his order along with a paypal order, they never replied and cashed the money order, and never sent SWIM the spores

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
DrMuffy;
Could you please go into more detail about the method used to grow A. Muscaria. I have never before heard anyone claim to have done this and any data I can find suggest it is impractical (at best) and certainly not possible using rice cake. |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
As far as I know, it is impossible to grow Amanita Muscaria. Many trustable sources say this. Biologically speaking, the fly agaric doesn't grow well without a tree. This is because Amanitas need to connect their mycelium to the roots of a tree (symbiosis). The best tree under which to grow Amanita Muscaria is the birch.
If you ask me, it just isn't worth trying and that's probably why nobody reported any successful growing experiment. But if SWIY is really interested in trying this, the only way to efficently grow Amanitas would be giving them the same nutrients that the birch gives them. But that's just theory. . |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
Amanita muscaria has been grown by a mushroom farm in Holland and exported to the UK, to fill the gap left by the magic mushroom ban.

Do you have any information on how they did it, Alfa? I'm just curious.

I intent to try to get that for you. Although I have inquired before, without the grower "unveiling his secret".

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
I would be interested to hear more on that as well, since AFAIK it is damn
near impossible to grow a. muscaria indoors (and difficult to actually 'cultivate' them outdoors). Obviously, symbiosis is a problem but also the mycelial network can take a year or two to develop enough to begin producing fruits. Plus, mimicing fruiting conditions would probably be a huge pain in the ass. I've only heard of one success growing them indoors in a lab setting (I think that was in Russia or something), but haven't heard any confirmation on that so am skeptical... |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
could u not inject spore under a birch tree and let it grow.
so u could have an outdoor patch to go back to each year. |

Re: Possible to grow Amanita muscaria indoors?
SWIM is planning to try and grow indoors in a foresty fishtank (with roots of birch, oak and so on) just to see if it works. This might work, SWIM thinks, because mushroom can live off of dead roots also. Any opinions on this?
I have also heard about someone who cultivated the mycelium in grapejuice, and then heated the juice so that the fluid got more potent. Is this just bs? This will of course not grow the actual shroom, but SWIY should get the same effect. |
