What are the differences between various hallucinogenic drugs?
SWIM has only ever tried magic mushrooms, which he found to produce an enriching, indescribably beautiful, profound effect on his mind, and salvia which just disorientated him without really producing any profound effects. The two drugs are completely different and yet they are both classed as hallucinogens.
Since it is hard to describe entheogenic experiences with words alone a great number of people and sources of information end up lumping a great number of drugs together and labelling them as "hallucinogens", distinguishing them mainly by duration and physical symptoms. This is your chance to blow generalisations out of the water and describe in as much detail as you can what distinguishes one entheogen or hallucinogen from another. I am interested in
1. Differences in visual effect (not just specific hallucinations but the overall feel of the OEVs and CEVs eg more wavey, more electric, creating a cartoonesque environment etc.),
2. Differences in the way the drug changes your perception of reality, psychological effect etc.
3. Physical effects eg body rushes, body load
4. Changes to spatial awareness
... and any other features you can think of.
For example: what makes 2CB different from mushrooms or acid? What makes 2CB different from 2CE and both compounds different from 2CI etc.? Is there much of a difference between phenethylamines?
I am aware that there are similarities between this thread and the thread about specific hallucinations below, as well as a thread I posted about the difference between mescaline and mushrooms (the mesc. trip incidentally, failed miserably). I hope this thread is different enough that it doesn't count as repetition.
Thanks for your input!
