Experiences - Disillusioned with LSD

Swim tried acid for the first time a few months back, around the end of june/beginning of july. He had two tabs about an hour and a half apart. He had a very nice trip, and really enjoyed it, but when discussiong his experiences with the people he was with, it became apprent that his trip was nowhere near as intense of his friend's - they spoke of scorpions made of mercury, and of tying knots in time, and whilst SWIM did have some fairly intense moments, he did not experience anything near that level - his trip only included the usual breathing walls and intesified colours. He had a very nice feeling of togetherness with everybody though, and did enjoy an amazing feeling of positivity, but he has had similar experiences after having 500mg of MDMA, and was hoping LSD would be a little stronger.

Swim believes that one of these tabs may have been a dud, on account of the fact his trip lasted a couple hours less than everyone else's.

He next had it at a festival, one tab this time, and only tripped for 20 minutes or so before coming down, and again, his friends lasted a good 6-7 hours and had a very enjoyable time, whilst SWIM just felt kinda bored.

Swim has had it a couple of times since, and has had similar experiences - good, but not seemingly as good as everyone else's, and certainly not living up to LSD's legendary status. Swim thinks that his experiences with Salvia Divinorum extract and mushrooms have been more intense and eye-opening.

Swim was wondering why this could be - is he just naturally more resilant, or has he just had bad luck and got a series of duff tabs?

Seriously. SWIM tells me that he had a good time for about 20-40 minutes, that he could feel it coming on, but then it tapered off quite suddenly, leaving very slight, but very unimpressive peripheral vision twitches and such, with no physical high and no feeling of wellbeing whatsoever - he was essentially sober, and all his friends were tripping balls, which dissappointed poor SWIM no end.

SWIM was just wondering whether it's something worth pursuing anymore, or whether he's one of those people destined to find it boring. Maybe his hippie friends hyped it up too much to him, and he is just expecting too much?

When a friend of mine was younger and tried acid for the first times, he did not get nearly as high as his friends did off the same dosages; he was told by experienced trippers that this was because he was "naturally high", a response which he was of course disappointed by. He has since realized that this assertion was to some degree true; however, he still wanted the full-on experience. He later dropped three tabs to one of his friend's and it blew his mind. Scared him shitless, too.

One of the things holding him back from really enjoying the acid experience as it came was a set of unrealistic expectations about what the experience would be like, and a silly emphasis on the visual aspects of the substance. He has since learned to appreciate the relatively subtle changes that characterize the lower-dose (or lower-effect) acid experience and to be grateful for not having been carried away permanently on a river of timeless time.

In short, darling, you're going to have to answer your own questions. My suggestion: make your own fun and don't expect the drugs to do it for you. Then whatever you get from them will be like "bonus fun."

Seriously, next time he will probably try a higher dose, but dosen't want to push it too far in case it goes too far the other way. He has seen friends mess up big time on acid before and it isn't pretty. Maybe he'll try taking a little something else to help bring on the mindset too - a couple of his friends say that snorting a small line of K after sinking a tab results in a cool, introspective trip.

PT— something that never occurred to my friend was to try taking 1.5 tabs instead of 1 or 2. I mention this in case SWIPT is like my friend was. You know, a bit DURRRRR.

Is SWIY on SSRIs? They can take away from a trip immensely.

SWIY may also not be effected by acid much. SWIM knows of a person like this. One time himself and a few of his friends took some fairly potent blotters and were tripping quite intensely but one of the group got very little effects and couldn't believe that the rest were experiencing visuals stronger than those of their previous shrooming sessions. Strangely enough it seemed as though his trip eventually began after everyone elses had started to wear away.

Different drugs have different effects on people's minds. SWIM knows of someone who needs to take three times the amount of ecstasy as everyone else in order to get any effects. SWIM is often said to "never appear drunk". I guess SWIY is a bit of a freak.
