SWIM tried extracting methylphenidate from ritalin pills by using ethanol (alcohol).

SWIM crushed 10 ritalin 10mg (generic) pills into about 100ml ethanol and after shaking well, filtered it with coffee filter.
then SWIM waits till the ethanol evaporates.
then he left with a very little powder at the bottom of container.

SWIM dissolved it in 4ml "Water for Injection".
Filtered the water with a cigarette filter.

SWIM injected (IV) the filtered (very clear) methylphenidate injection. he actually injected 1ml of it but he completely felt the methylphenidate's short-lived high.

Note that someone should not use little amount of ethanol for this extraction.

all these information is from SWIM's experience and may not be the best way for extracting ritalin.

M. X tried an extraction with methanol once, but no great results... There was still a waxy shit after evaporation.

Still, there is a really good way to remove some waxy fillers in Ritalin SR 20mg:

(what succeed is for educationnal purpose, do not attempt to do the following... as the police will make you eat their poo and drink their pee!)

-Crush 10 pills (do best possible, as they wont turn into a fine powder);

-In a container, cover crushed pills with TCE (tetrachloroethylene) about three times the volume of the pills;

-Filter with a single cofee filter. while filtering, you can spray some more TCE into filters;

-When all TCE run through the filter, take out the filter and let the powder dry.

-Repeat those steps at least one more time.
Notice: it is important to not let the pill powder bath for too long; also, make sure you crush the pills are well crushed before spraying TCE (TCE can be bought in hardware store as "brake cleaner")

The resulting powder is quite exquisite to snort (better than coke imo).

You mean its effects after snorting or the taste/feeling on the nose/throat when snorting??

The feeling for sure, snorting ritalin is hard on the nose!

Swim uses ethyl alcohol (everclear), two coffe filters, pyrex dish, swim is very happy with the result.

no it has to be instant release. and one has to be careful. I hear your just better off eating those.

And I have only used everclear. I guess I used 91% isopropyl alcohol once, but that didn't taste so good.

Would this work for Methylphenidate SR 20mg tablets? These are the kind of tablets that are perfect round and small. You can easily peel off the white, outer layer (its like paper almost). Then you are left with the same round pill, but it is like an amber color, and crushes to a powder really easly. Of course, there is a bunch of junk still in this pill (or now powder), but its not like the methylin ER tablets, where you see a bunch of little balls in the pile of powder, that are a pain to crush up.

SWIM's tried water extractions with concerta, and found it was pointless because everything dissolved and made it past the filter. So he'd like to try again with alcohol, as he believes quite a few ingredients are non soluble in it. But, does anyone know if %100 pure isopropanol, or denatured ethanol is available in the US? He knows that alcohols can't be distilled to be completely pure, so he's not sure if pure is available or not.

Many additives that lead to the stickiness can be avoided by the use of an alcohol extraction, but you want to use something with as little water content as possible as often binders are water soluble (which leads to a sticky mess), however While SWIM's parrott can't speak for all formulations (instant releases... never experimented with time-release), most all binders/fillers will dissolve in water but not alcohol. SWIM read methanol is the best solubility for MPH, however while having never tried this with methanol, would wager to guess that it is likely that more of the binders would be soluble in methanol as well. While Isopropyl alcohol (go for the 91% stuff or abouts) does not dissolve MPH HCl quite as well as some methanol, it will dissolve very little binder filler and you will end up with... dunno... perhaps someome could do some experiments on this and find out. It wouldn't be hard to do. A slight amount of the binder/filler shit will get through but this could be further purified with the use of methanol for an additional extraction (purification).

This is all theoretical of course, but seems like it works pretty well without even resorting to methanol. SWIM's lab rat won't experiment in this manner any more do to the difficult in judging the dose consumed. May work for one brand and not another... no clue... SWIM typically sees only 71% isopropyl at the grocery store, along with 91%... something like that. Prehaps anyother marmoset can provide more inside.
