Mushroom Hunting in Colorado

Western Colorado that is. Anyone have any experience here with shroom hunting? Any tips would be appreciated. I live next to a horse/cow pasture.

Re: It's currently raining in Colorado...

It's possible to find the following species in your state:

Panaeolus castaneifolius
Gymnopilus spectabilis
Gymnopilus sapineus
Pluteus salicinus
Gerronema fibula
Conocybe cyanopus

Be sure to look extra hard for the Pans. Good luck! Post pics if you find anything!

Re: It's currently raining in Colorado...

The gymnopilus, pluteus, and gerronema grow on rotting wood, the others
can be found in yards (grass)... although quite honestly, don't expect too
much as far as active species go in Colorado... all those species are pretty
rare in that state (it's a little on the dry side). Also, a little late in the
season now... the best mushroom hunting in CO tends to be in late spring.

Re: can you I.D. any of these?

Mushroom identification cannot be done over the internet with a picture. The most important piece of information in identifying psilocybe mushrooms is the color of the spores.

The only things even remotely resembling psilocybe mushrooms in those pictures are the LBM's (little brown mushrooms) in the middle of the top picture.
