lets talk about 'swim'
sorry if this has been discussed before but im kind of new. if theres a place that answers this completely just give me a link and close this thread.
ive been visiting random online forums for probably the past 4-5 years. mainly a site called totse. theres a bunch of boards that discuss all types of things from math and metaphsyics to music and books, and of course explosives drugs an sex. i always kind of knew about swim, but for the most part no one ever used it and people actually made fun of people who used it. its pretty well known that different agencies watch the site and i know of atleast one person arrested based largely on information he posted on the site. he was supposedly cooking meth though, and posted a lot of very specific information. but for the most part people talk about using and planning to use drugs freely, and even talk through IRC/AIM/MSN etc. no one really thinks about it. i didnt either until i came here, so i asked around a little bit. technically what you say online can be used in court. theres no question. you might aswell be on a cordless phone. no one actually knew if saying "swim" would actually hold up in court. its so obvious you know.. i bet even urbandictionary has a deffinition. the real "loop hole" is speaking hypotheically.
but the someone said something that made sense. the basicly said that these agencies dont like to waste money busting random people who use whatever substances. they are much more concerned with the people who are trying to obtain chemicals (research, bomb-making etc) and the ones who talk about growing and selling drugs. obviously going after any random user isnt worth their time. even if they somehow got jail time, they would get out, and theres little doubt they would do drugs again and not get caught. it only makes sense to go after serious offenses (like trying to import quasi-legal research chems) and the sources of drugs.
if it makes any difference i know the DEA has been doing work all summer in my area. my friends girlfriends uncle (or something) is a higher-up in the DEA and he stopped by to say hey, and he said they were doing work in the area but couldnt say anything else. since theyve been around so many resources have disapeared. big people are gone now. and every month on the local news they bust other BIG dealers in the state. but out of everything thats happend, they only people who have been in trouble were the ones with lets say large ammounts of certain subtstances. no one has been busted for personal stashes.
so i dont know. i might be pissing someone off by posting this like this but its just a thought i had. discuss.
