Well Along with a lot of other things I have ordered, i bought one gram of 10x worm wood extract and wanted to know the best way to take W.W. 10x, It was said to be extracted the best way to not dmg any of the thujone, what ways of dosage would be best? Is thujone smokable? Should i let it soak in alcohol? I also ordered a QP of Powdered Kratom, Kanna, 4g of kratom 7x resinextract,1oz Sinicuichi, 8oz kava root, 1oz scullcap, 1oz Salvia, and last but the one im looking forward to the most would have to be the QP of morning glory seeds, Im planning to make alot of lsa extract from the seeds to fill in gelcaps a QP I hope will be a lot of hits. Anyways It's going to be a fun week because these will all arrive in a couple of days. Anyways if anyoen could answer the W.W. question or any other comments/suggestions of usage for any of these qoul be helpfull. |

I have smoked wormwood as the herb, I have three plants, harvested from wild ones, growing very well in my room ![]() I have never tried making a resin extract, from the herb, isopropanol would be best to extract with. I find wormwood a somewhat intriguing herb actually, it doesn't get my high as such, in low doses any way, by low, I mean a single cigarette rolled from tobacco and the crumbled herb, but it is a quite effective sedative, if I have trouble sleeping I will smoke a rolled up cigarrete with wormwood added, will allow me to sleep in as little as 30 minutes. Wormwood seems to induce lucid dreaming, which is being asleep, and dreaming, yet conscioussly aware of your dreaming, and sometimes able to control it, dreams are usually pleasant, and aside from lucid dreams, it also seems to greatly promote normal dreaming, also pleasant. Thujone is toxic in high doses, be careful. I actually don't think it is the thujone content itself that makes wormwood psychoactive, as sage (not Salvia divinorum, I meannormal sage) also has a high thujone content, yet ingesting/smoking sage will not induce dreaming or get you high, I think there must be some other constituent aside from thujone, in artemisia absinthium, that is responsible for a high, and the lucid dreaming. Do not get me wrong though, wormwood I believe does have potential. |

I have read that most of the wormwood extract is usually bitter tasting
alkaloids (thujone is not an alk.). An interesting experiment would be to wash the extract with a mild acid (followed by washing the acid with an NP solvent to recover thujone) to remove / isolate these alkoloids. This would allow 2 things: first you could sample the alkaloids for effect (yum!). second with the fitterness removed you could now ingest more (being carfull not to poison youself). I somehow doubt that thujone is all that toxic. This could be just a myth. It could just be propiganda - does anyone talk about "the evils of reefers" anymore? If you were going to go to this trouble you may to better to use other sources of thujone such as sage because they actually have more in it. It is even found in hops! |

Thanks for the info, from what I read I always thought the thujone was the pyschoactive chemical in the substance. I did not know sage also had the chemical.
If you where to take 10x wormwood resin extract, lets say 1-2grams of it and soak it in some strong wine. Would the effects be anythign like absinth? And if not what else is added to absynth to make it so psychoactive? I'd love to do this with soem merlot wine and add some blue lotus as well! It'd be some nice psychoactive wine.

there is not allot of thujone to dissolve, however, it really does not
like water. in the tradional drink it (and a pile of other green crap) come out of solution when the sprits are diluted with one part of water. In ohterwords it is going to be pritty much insoluable below 35%. So I would be thinking more about making spiked vodka not wine. I'm afraid you will end up with some wine with a bunch of yucky oil on top. Thujone is in allot of ways like THC (but it is different!!!!). It does not contain nitrogen and so it is not an alkaloid. This means it is not soluble in acids. It is a large and fairly featureless molicule. this makes it non-polar. So for the most part what works for making / dissolving THC / hash oil wil work for this. Check out how to make a "green dragon" and apply it to wormwood. |

Since in my knowledge wormwood is a key ingredient in absinthe, and it
can be cheeply made by mixing it with Vodka, that would seem to lend it to certain ways of being mixed, however, I would like to point out that in my reading the alcohol has to be of a certain percentage I beleife 35% minimum to be able to be mixed correctly for the psychoactive chemicals to be able to be any useful. controlphreak |

Wormwood is not the only psychoactive in absinthe. In fact most of the other ingredients are as well including hyssop, corrieander, calamis, fennel, star anise, anise and sometimes parsley is used as well. Fennel, calamis, hyssop can be found in the Legal Highs book by Gotlieb. I think parsely has saffrol and calamis has TMA-2 ora precursor to it. I made a batch from from the recipe in Dale Pendell's Pharmako/Poeia, this can be found in the Absinthe Vaults of Errowid. The key part of this recipe is the distillation. If you just soak your herbs in alcohol all of the bitter essenses go into the alcohol and makes it taste so bitter with an oil that will cling to your mouth for hours. When you distill it the bitter essenses stay behind and the actives come across to the end product. good luck |

I got a bottle of wormwood extract (liquid) yesterday, 4 drops in water, with a few cones gave me a weird buzz. Not sure if it was a placebo type effect or what. I have put 6 drops on a cigarette and plan on 'testing' the extract today. I have read in large doses it can be harmful, but what is defined as a large dose? Can the extract be smoked? Or must it be ingested? I guess i'll find out soon.... |

Its supposidly bad for organs like your liver. my personal opinion is
it is only because of the common solvent used (ethanol). Also years ago imposter drinks may have had bad crap in them. But then again porn made me go blind... |

Nitrate "Its supposidly bad for organs like your liver. my personal opinion is it is only because of the common solvent used (ethanol)." Ethanol is common drinking alcohol, and I think your right in that, most absinthe's of their time were around 120-160 proof. The negative symptoms are identical to alcoholism symptoms, tremmors, hallucinations etc. Tripwire, look on the bright side, at least your insides are clean. Before absinthe, wormwood was used to remove intestinal parasites like worm. A common phrase in herbalism is "What is bitte to the toung is sweet to the stomach." |

Well there are different kinds of skullcap some supposedly being rather strong, while some strains of it weak. The site I ordered it from did not specify on the strain, however I e-mailed them asking and it happened that they sent me the rather weak strain. And smoking fat blunts of it provided very little if any effect.

Wormwood works great against parasites, which everybody has.Wormwood teais bitter as hell. Only Calea tea tastes worse. Absolutely undrinkable. After one sip, it was physicly impossible to drink another drop. Even thinking about another sip made me shiver drasticly.

Alfa, I had the same experience with Calea. It is the only crazy concoction I have put together and not been able to drink. The wormwood tincture was bad and left me grimmacing for almost an hour, but the Calea would not go down, it was by far the worst I have come across.

I agree with you both alfa and Dr_H on the calea. I tried to brew some took one sip and it was soo acrid. After one sip I knew it was impossible to drink and almost made me puke. I dumped out all the tea right away.

I have made a pretty strong alcohol extract and when it is not so humid where I live I will try eveporating the extract on a plate and vaporizing what is left after the alcohol is gone. I will let you know how it goes.

I have 2 oz. of wormwood that a friend ordered off the net. I was
wondering how much I should smoke. Can I get high from drinking it as a tea, if so, how much wormwood should I use? |

When soaking in alcohol, like for absinthe, people usually use 1oz of wormwood. I do not think smoking it will do anything unless you make a strong extract out of it.
