Eleutherine flower anybody?
leutherine bulbosa (Miller) Urban is an herb from Iridaceae, a botanical family that comprises 90 genera and about 1 200 species (Schultes & Raffauf 1990).
Ritual & Magical uses : Has magical and hallucinatory properties. Bulbs are also grown outside homesteads as protective charms. Chemical constituents : 1: eleutherinone; 2: eleutherol; 3: eleutherin; 4: isoeleutherin The napthaquinones eleuthrin and iso-eleuthrin, eleutheroinol (a benzopyrone or napthapyrone) and eleutherol (a napthalide) are known in the bulbs (Gibbs, 1974b). Some information on possible active principles is also provided by Schultes (1990). This is what I found. Has anyone tried this or even heard of it? I stumbled on it by mistake. |
