Is this true?
A Friend of SWIM says if he is going to have a hard LSD trip he always has the emergency brake by his side. He smokes a foil of H and the trip is over or gets lighter or whatever. My personal opinion to this is to do this is shit. When you decided to trip you must get through the trip with its ups and downs. |

Heroin wouldn't be SWIM's ideal choice to bring him down from an overwhelming trip. Benzos would be a better option. SWIY makes a good point though. One shouldn't take a dose so high that they can't handle it without taking something else to bring them down. It's cheating in a sense. Know your dose, know your limits. It's more fulfilling in the long run.

SWIM seconds what nature boy says. Benzos are the classic option to abort trips because they will calm down many lab rats. Opiates can actually agitate some lab rats, particularly if they overshoot the dose and are too sedated. This could lead to a negative feedback loop where they cannot feel their heartbeat, or wonder if they are breathing enough, and this could potentially make things even worse. With DXM, opiates would be a particularly bad combination since they both suppress respiration.
And, perhaps bad trips should be ridden out. The "buy the ticket, take the ride" philosophy. Often one can learn alot from a bad trip because things are brought out from ones psyche that one has tried to repress or ignore. Ideally though one will not try to take a heroic dose and end up in this position. Instead they will do their homework, and take nature boy's advice to know their limits. Besides, heroin is a powerful enough drug on its own, why bother combining it with something equally or even more powerful =] |

SWIM once tripped together with a daily heroin user. Regardless of the intake of heroin, the heroin user still tripped his tits off. I have no doubt that the heroin influence the effects of LSD as well, but it did not diminish it.

SWIM has seen many lab rats who were daily users of opiates trip on a variety of substances...actually its somewhat strange that one would use heroin to "come down" from a trip. They might influence one another, to be sure, or create a sort of warmth or positive mindstate (or have a negative effect as SWIM noted above), but what Alfa says is important to note: opiates won't abort a trip or make one trip less.
