NPR seeks mystical psilocybin experiences - anonymous

Message from MAPS' Rick Doblin:

Quote:
Barbara Bradley Hagerty, a reporter with NPR who is working on a story about psilocybin and mystical experiences (based in part on the recent Johns Hopkins study), and is also working on a book that is, in part,
about psychedelic research and mysticism, is seeking to talk to people
who have had one or more mystical experiences while on psilocybin. She
is not interested in talking to people who have had mystical experiences
on any other drug. Ideally, she is seeking somebody who has had one or
more mystical experiences while on psilocybin and also at other times
without any drugs, so that some comparison can be made between the two
experiences.

I've met with Barbara in person for an interview that took place in DC,
in a cafeteria in one of the US House of Representatives buildings.
She is a genuine reporter with a sincere interest in this story.

Barbara can talk to people on an anonymous basis for her book. For the
NPR story, she can also grant anonymity, though we didn't discuss
anything about distorting the sound of the person's voice.

In case anybody wants to get in touch with her, she can be reached
either by regular mail or by email, at: <BBradley@npr.org>

My view is that we need to reach out to free media in order to try to
counteract the massive propaganda that we can't afford to rebut through
purchased media.

Causes of Anxiety

Swoim is an old freak with both extensive, although ancient, experience with mushies and also with mystical experiences produced through yoga techniques.

Swobviouslyim says that the paranoia and anxiety produced by psilocybin are actually usually due either to pressure of circumstances, eg the cops may realise you are tripping and throw you in jail.

Or they are due to the inability to maintain neuroses under the effects of the drug, eg someone may have been lying to everyone around them about what they really think and feel their whole lives and the action of the drug puts them in grave danger of no longer being able to fool themselves into thinking that this is somehow ok.

There is also an uncalibrated toxic effect which can contribute.

Re: NPR seeks mystical psilocybin experiences - anonymous

SWIM ate cubensis several times, among other things one memory of certain amplified senses was looking at a spider crawling on the wall about 20 feet away. SWIM truly put effort into focusing and as it moved SWIM heard the tapping of its legs, and after a few moves it would hiss like "tsss tss tsss". I find this significant if only for the fact that this psilocybin could induce a type of sensory deprivation within the brain, when utilized properly by one's mind, if it is harnessed, potential is incredible. Nobody hears a tiny spider's legs move, or hiss, when they are sober.

And yes the loss of ego, and of the ideal self will cause anxiety, when one isn't ready for the "truth" about their existence thoughts clash, and struggle to overcome eachother. Psilocybin, through introspection will show you what's real about yourself.
