Man stumbles onto $6M in pot
6,000 plants found among trees in Scarborough

A man walking through a thicket of trees yesterday afternoon in Scarborough discovered a marijuana grow operation estimated to be worth about $6 million on the streets.
The grow-op with mature plants had been seeded in six areas on McLevin Ave., just east of Markham Rd.
Each plant had its own green bamboo guide stick to hold it straight. Police estimate about 6,000 plants were growing in the wooded area between a large furniture store and industrial complex.
A dense band of trees and bush surrounded the grow operations and were not visible from neighbouring parking lots or the CP Rail line on the north edge of the area.
As of last night, police had cleared only about a fifth of the harvest and will continue cutting down the plants this morning.

Police said the scheme was well-planned.
The operation was hiding in plain sight, Duty Insp. Gord Jones said, adding it "is a substantial find."
He said there have been no arrests and police don't have suspects.
Mario Morra, who has lived in the area for 23 years, said he's surprised by the find.
"It's close to home," he said. "It's always been bush since I've lived around this neighbourhood. "This is a first in this area," Morra said.

swim would have nicked a lot of buds, left a note for the grower saying they should move their crop, and then swim would never go back. why do good things happen to people who will call the cops about it?
