Based on the information given in this thread, I would say that they are more or less the same. If anything, Dramamine is possibly even more potent than Benadryl, and definitely gives better visuals.

Considering that SWIM has taken 40 pills of 25mg diphenhydramine (1g) and became utterly manic, and considering someone else went into cardiac arrest on 52 dramamine, you can be sure that diphenhydramine isn't half as potent (people take ~26 pills of diphenhydramine all the time, and none have ever almost died due to it.)
