Drug info - I need some information on the following... Mescaline, Quaaludes and MDM

Ok two drugs that are highly talked about in movies and what not. SWIM know this is not his era of growing up but SWIM does want some information regarding the following:

I.E. Where did it go (why its no longer around), why it was so popular, what were the effects that made it popular/addicting, what is it lol. Forgive SWIMS newbie'ness.

Mescaline
Qualudes
MDM

Also by all means if there are some other old school drugs not around really anymore please mention them as SWIM likes to see what used to be out there before SWIMS time.

Mescaline is still around. Maybe not too popular but it definatly still available.

MDM - Are you sure you dont mean MDMA, never heard of MDM. MDMA is short for methylenedioxymethamphetamine and is commonly known as ecstacy and is very much available.

Qualudes - I dont know much about. Whats below is from Erowid.

Quaaludes are a group of CNS depressants classed as "hypnotic sedatives" (sleep inducer) that were popular recreationally in the 60s and 70s. In the early 80s, the manufacture of quaaludes was ceased due to excessive abuse/recreational use and due to the improvement of the benzodiazepines (such as valium) and other sedatives, which are much safer. While there is some illicit manufacture of qualudes today, most of what is found on the street sold as qualudes is likely either a benzodiazepine or a weak opiate. Effects are sedation, decrease in anxiety, loosening of inhibitions, and "balance issues". Some people experience pleasant body effects. Side effects include disorientation, extreme sedation/sleep, grogginess the next day, and memory loss. One should be careful not to combine quaaludes or benzodiazepines with alcohol or other CNS depressants (opiates, ghb, etc). They are synergistic drugs and can greatly amplify the effects and side effects of each drug, and cause extreme illnes and possibly death.

with regards to mescaline it is indeed still very available.and swim has never heard of MDM....maybe its MDMA like matti said or maybe swiy means MDA which is closely related to MDMA but is considered to be more psychedelic than MDMA.

MDM is probably a mistake for MDMA or MDA (supposedly more popular back then). swim's own father once told him about his MDA experience. swim was blown away that his own progenitor had touched a drug that swim hadn't.

the elder lab rat in the swim family also told swim that while he was never much of a downer guy, quaaludes combined euphoria with the irresponsibility and intoxication of benzos, more or less. people would have great times, feel extremely euphoric or horny, and not remember any of it the next day.

the lab rat then proceeded to tell stories about real opium and PCP, as young swim listened with rapt attention...

SWIM had never heard of qualudes either until an episode of Weeds where the bitchy mom is on chemo and manages to get ahold of one. That got me curious because usually SWIM is pretty damn educated about all the drugs out there. Like the above post said they're no longer manufactured, but apparently in South Africa they've very popular and recently overtook crack as the number one abused drug in the slums.

Quaaludes are fantastic, but very addicting and incapacitating. With alcohol, potentially deadly. SWIMs youth was awash with barbs and quaaludes, but they disappeared a long time ago. Simply too easy to OD and die. When benzos were developed, barbs and methaquaalone disappeared from the market. It is very hard to OD and die from a benzo, which is why they took over.
Mescaline is probably nearer to SWIY than you think. There are some very common cactii which produce usable quantities. Do SWIY's homework.
Synthetic mescaline is scarce because a solid dose is > 300mg, making it expensive to synth and conspicuous to package for resale (big pills), not to mention the fact that it is prohibited everywhere. The plant allies do not care about that, though...
MDM is not an acronym for any known psychoactive which SWIM is aware of.
