Stroh rum
Swim has a bottle of Stroh rum from Austria. It's not like other rums, for this has a buttery flavor, and quite tasty for a 160 proof liquor.
So does anyone have any suggestions for drinks to make with the Stroh? now Swim would do a google search, and they did and have found very little, aside from the two recipies on the official site. While Swim does enjoy doing the odd shot of the stuff, they do not want to gag on the burn everytime, and one is better off mixing high proof stuffs anyway. Swim would also randomly experiment, but there is limited supply and they don't want to waste the stuff on possibly foul combinations. Swim has more faith in strangers, and they do come with candy sometimes... ![]() and if Swiy have any interesting tales to tell about the stuff, please do. |

This sounds good although never had the chance to try it. Absinthe is so damn expensive. I doubt you have any around but it would be worth a shot if you had both at the same time.
1/2 oz Stroh® 80 rum 1/2 oz absinthe herbal liqueur 1/2 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur Last edited by Sitbcknchill; 20-09-2006 at 16:43. |

Following the interlude - back to the topic: Stroh's has a long tradition of smoking their ingredients. No - not like that! I mean they barbecue them so they are cooked in hot smoke. This imparts a flavor that depends on the type of wood used. Hence the unique flavor.
Due to the high alcohol content and weird flavor - and SWIM's gag factor - I could suggest that this be placed in a freezer. Then tried as small sips straight-up. Failing that, you might tell SWIM he has a nice gift to pass on to a family member. Like a fruitcake. The endless gift. |

The recipie looks interesting. Swim's friend is in Spain and they should be sending Swim some Absinthe soon since they owe money. When Swim gets it they'll try it out and see.
Swim won't be giving this stuff away soon, they like the odd flavor. (plus it's a nice souvenir from when Swim was in Berlin!) They just won't be drinking it on a regular basis... |

fuck i can remember getting stroh in austria.....its fucking lethal . it may as well be just bottled ethanol labeled as "stroh" .lol. harder to stomach than absinthe in my opinion. good recipes for it....put it in capsules and drop it in its pill form....thats the only thing i can think of to make it bearable......but it may melt the capsule before you get a chance to swallow it. lol.
