Storing Synthetics with Citric Acid

Allow me to show my ignorance of chemistry. A friend of mine wants to know if citric acid would negatively affect 2C PEAs or DXM in any way, were it to be used as a preservative in the aqueous solution. The citrus also helps alleviate DXM nausea. Can anyone help him?

Citric acid, as in derived from lemon-juice, might rot as the lemon-juice naturally decomposes. PEA's SHOULD be stored in the dry-state away from air, heat, and light. Same for DXM, which is usually found as it's hydrobromide. If one wants to play with citric acid - use synthetic lemon-juice which won't likely rot.

For an anti-oxidant/preservative, try Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

Swim has a large amout of pure, reagent-grade a DDM DBr. He's just comcerned that the citric might react with the imporant psychoacive suff over time.

Tell SWIM to just keep it in an airtight container, preferably frozen, out of light. It needs no citric acid to preserve it.

Wow. Alprazolam really does cause memory loss. My friend doesn't remember me writing the above message at all. He slept well, though.

Anyhoo...this friend of mine tends to mix his powders (be they RCs or DXM) into distilled water or ethanol at measured concentrations for simplicity. This way, he only has to use the scale once instead of every time he doses. He hasn't noticed any bacterial growth or degradation in strength of the 2C-PEAs over six months.

I guess the real question is about DXM. He would like to add citric acid (pure, anhydrous C6H8O7 - no fruits involved) to the DXM HBr/ethanol mix to raise the pH to a non-nausea inducing level. He normally does this when dosing, but would like to do it to the entire batch of Robobooze ahead of time if it won't cause any loss in potentcy.

He hasn't noticed any obvious reactions when mixing the two. I suggested that someone here might be able to give a more concrete answer; he asked me to ask for him.
