First Rave

SWIM is hoping to attend her first rave soon. Any advice from others on how to prepare? Or maybe stories of SWIY's first raves? Thanks

SWIMs first rave was amazing i wont go into more detail but he is interested to know what kind of rave is it SWIY will be going to... SWIMs first was a psytrance event in a kind of community centre that he has been back to many times since. he would just advise that SWIY tries to hang on to just a tiny bit of common sense while at the same time leave all of his/her worries at home, just do your thing and dont worry about anything.

I feel all old and lame as I have never been to a rave. Maybe I should get friends who aren't goth? The goths around here aren't always very...lively. Perhaps there isn't even a rave scene here. Ahh well. Good luck and report back as to how it was! I wish I could offer a hint but see above statement about being old and lame.

SWIM has two options and is yet to take make a decision. One rave is actually quite goth oriented, and takes place at a club... this would involve psytrance, hardcore, noise/industrial, ebm, drum n bass and dark jungle. The other option is a house party/rave that all SWIM is aware of is jungle. It is believed that the latter option will have better vibes, but it is yet to be determined whether or not said event will actually be taking place. Regardless, one way or another, SWIM should have an excellent time this weekend

You have people around that will mix all those genres!! That's awesome. Around here the goths are elitist and snobbish. No semi techno anything must touch the precious industrial. I think they are beautifully related sounds. Go to the second one, if you don't like it, then go to the first one.

SWIM would usually go for the house party, since it would probably have a cosier vibe ie it would be easier to make friends and chat to people, if thats what SWIY wants, but if all she wants is to dance all night then I would suggest the club. SWIM usually sees a lot of goth or punk type folk at psytrance nights, (not at more mainstream clubs)... people from all different backgrounds usually feel welcome!

Things were not looking good for SWIMs chances to attend a rave. But at the last minute SWIM found an unexpected companion to accompany her. SWIM did not want to go alone you see. The two headed for the club. The unexpected friend was reluctant about E, so the two instead took some BZP in the form of red devil pills. They arrived at the club at around 11pm. It was really neat. Two rooms, one smaller and more intimate (and hotter) and the other huge with insane lights. SWIM was very pleased with the crowd. He'd heard that the event is often frequented only by goths (not that SWIM has a problem with that) but SWIM found a very diverse crowd before her and had the pleasure of experiencing pretty well what she'd hoped for after reading an incredible book that SWIM would recommend to ravers, and to people curious about the scene. It is called Rave Culture: An Insider's Overview by Jimi Fritz. SWIM loved it. Great dancing, music lights and atmosphere. It was gorgeous. The worst part was leaving, as it was about 11 degrees outside and they were drenched in sweat and it was raining. Oh god was the wind biting, they tell me. Thanks for the advice and such, SWIM had a really good time and thinks everyone should go to a rave. Who knows, maybe even I will someday, lol.
