Swim's Random LE Encounters

This could probably go in "Law and Order", but it is an 'experience' story, so I figured best to put it here.

SWIM's had some truly random encounters lately with law enforcement. Now, get this, SWIM has NOT been doing anything illegal..this all comes from just being downtown at night.

1st Time:

SWIM's walking along to go to some clubs, when she gets hit with bad indigestion. Not sure what's about to happen, she ducks into a small alley way, sits down and waits for the cramps to pass.

5 minutes go by, and suddenly two bicycle cops pull in.

To keep a long story short, they asked SWIM if she was there looking for "dope" , and doesn't she know that this is "dope alley".

Sorry officer, didn't see the neon sign.

Really, this was not what you'd call a seedy alley way, but I guess it was stupid for SWIM to be in an alley...Anways, 5 or 10 minutes detained on that one, leaving her a bit shaken up.

2nd Time (last night!):

SWIM decides to go downtown again and see if any good bands are playing. She's on a totally different side of DT this time..trying to avoid known 'drug areas'. Alas, where she's pulled up, there's a cop shaking down what looks to be a middle-class, african american couple.

On SWIM's side of the street is a security gaurd from the TX lottery building, watching the whole thing. He sees SWIM. She smiles and says "hi".

He says "Hey! Aren't you a little young to be out tonight?" ROFL.

SWIM explains that, no, in fact, she's in her early 30's..

Security guy just goes on and on about how amazed he is by how young SWIM looks and how he thought she was "maybe 12 or 13 years old at most", etc, etc..we shoot the shit for about 15 minutes and he gives SWIM the run down of crime in the area.

SWIM moves on and has a few other odd encounters with non-LE people on the street. She's come onto by both men and women..who seem to think she's either a female prostitute or a young, male hustler.

Its all very bizarre. SWIM is just your typical, andro-butch dyke who looks younger than she is. Most people realize this in any other setting, but for some reason the whole thing changes at night when she's in the entertainment district.

Anyone else ever get read the wrong way due to their appearance? SWIM's thinking there must be a hidden benefit to this. Be a master of disguise or something
