Always falling asleep...

SWIM is always falling asleep about 30 minutes or one hour after smoking... What can he do to fix this?

Maybe switch strains of bud? Certain strains are more prone to make you sleepy.

Also certain strains are known to perk you up and make you giddy. If swiy's dealer is straight he should be able to help swiy out on this.

Another option is to try some combinations. Swim finds that mixing a little opium with his weed makes for a really nice giddy high and he is quite perked up and hyper somehow. Its quite fun. He uses 0.25g - 0.5g of opium in a 1g - 1.5g joint. Makes for some good times.

Also swiy could try changing the time that he smokes. Perhaps his body is already tired by that point?

He could also try supplementing the cannabis with ephedrine or plain ol' caffeine as well.

Swim went through a stage like this a few times before. He will just get really sleepy when he smokes. It happens more often when his tolerance is lower. He finds that it always seems to go away after a time even if he doesn't change any aspects of his lifestyle, so he says that even if swiy tries some of the above methods and they don't work things will probably be fine.

Find something FUN to do. This will keep you awake. You know, it's hard to fall asleep during a Rock Concert (if you like the band).

As Bajeda pointed out, caffeine could be your answer. Good coffee is delicious, does keep one awake for that little bit longer and IMO it certainly compliments the taste of weed and especially hash.

Or better yet he could make Cannacoffee!! That would be awesome.

Just make Cannamilk (I've posted extensively on this ) and mix with coffee. That could be interesting actually, if it was done with expresso maybe....

Coffee and weed is a very good combonation. One can get very baked but still be alert enough to enjoy it to its fulelst extent. I dunno about the opium sugegstion though in SWIMs experience an opium/weed combo makes him even more tired than weed alone, but everyone reacts differently i guess.

Re: Always falling asleep...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I didn't want to create a new one when SWIM had some questions on the same topic.

Basically, SWIM's been smoking weed for a while. This summer, he got up to about an ounce a day (thanks to everyone getting their graduation $$$, hehe). Anyway, his tolerance is definitely high, so over-smoking isn't really the problem, yet for whatever reason, weed makes SWIM extremely lethargic.

SWIM can remember smoking weed for the first few times and how adventurous and excited he got, but nowadays it just makes him want to sleep.

SWIM is getting anywhere from 6-15 hours of sleep a day too, because it's the summer and he doesn't have a job, so that's not the problem.

The problem isn't really the lack of activity either, because he's always out doing stuff.

I'd think that the problem could be the bud, but SWIM's tried many strains of bud, and everything does this to him. Even some really great orange kush made him pass out recently.

Is it just genetic, and if so is it a problem that he should have looked into or something normal?

Re: Always falling asleep...

BTW - SWIM also get panic attacks more often than his friends. Since the summer started, he's had four (albeit, that's with smoking every day from the time he wakes up 'till the time he goes to bed). Still, it makes him worry a lot more than his friends do too and makes SWIM uncomfortable at times. Overall, these instances are rare enough to where marijuana use is still a good thing for SWIM, but he'd like to minimize these instances even more, if possible.

Re: Always falling asleep...

It's common for people to "lose the magic" of their first few experiences with weed. Some SWIMs have reported regaining this feeling by preloading their sessions with 100-500mg of 5-HTP (a supplement available at any grocery or health store) an hour and a half or so before smoking.

And uh, an ounce a day, that's a lot of weed. I wonder if SWIY will be less tired and avoid the panic attacks simply by smoking a little (or a lot) less. Also, you didn't mention if SWIY has tried the suggestions in this thread, combining smoking with a mild stimulant such as caffiene.

Edit: I should also mention that it is very dangerous to take 5-HTP while on an SSRI medication (many depression meds are of this class). It can lead to serotonin syndrome which is not fun at all.

Re: Always falling asleep...

It seems to me, if one smokes an ounce a day, your tolerance is going to go really really high. You'll miss out on the fun of the weed, b/c the tolerance brings down the fun stuff, and your going to be feeling Lethargic and tired from SMOKING the substance. Your lungs get tired, and your body gets sick of it.
IF you can, go a whole week without it, then try again. It'll be a divine experience.

Hmm... SWIM just stopped his Zoloft (SSRI) usage, and SWIM wonders if that has anything to do with it. He did pretty much every common drug at least once while on SSRI's. It's not smart, but hindsight 20/20.

Then consider this day 1 sober...

(We'll see how long this lasts... I'm not sure if I have the will power.)

Re: Always falling asleep...

Same thing happens to swim. Swim tends to crash into what he refers to as a "weed nap" 4 or so hours after smoking. However, this only happens when swim is either alone or with few other people. when swim is somewhere in public, or at some sort of event that will keep swim awake, swim stays awake far longer than 4 hours.

swim does not like this, and has been trying different strains in hope of correcting this after effect.

Re: Always falling asleep...

SWIY should take a break and let his system get clean. Also, SWIY might not be getting enough sleep, or may be getting too much sleep. Either of these things can cause lethargy.
