Police procedure on Safes?
Whats the deal on safes?
Lets evaluate this imaginary scenario. A fictitious individual suddenly has police breaking down the door early hours of the morning as they believe she is at the very least involved in a drug trafficking ring. They believe she has at the very least, amounts(enough for supply) of illegal substances locked in her safe, inside her house. Now assuming the fictitious individual refused to open the safe for the law. my questions about this imaginary scenario are: Would they 'crack' the safe and try to open it? If so, what is the likelihood of them being able to crack the safe.(assume it's not a shitty £49.99 safe from the local catalogue) How far would they go?(I know would be somewhat relative of how big a operation they think they are busting) what experience/past case law has anyone heard of or had experience of with the law and imaginary scenarios of this nature. If they couldn't crack the safe, then what? Anything else worth noting about this imaginary sceanario that anyone could add? Many thanks for your time |

Really they go that far?
Some research was done on grade 6 safes, apparently some even have thermal protection against cutting torches and alike! |

i cant imagine they wouldnt go that far. if they have a warrant and suspect swiy is holding drugs, they'd probably take any measures necessary to open a safe in the house. oftentimes during raids and such officers will knock holes in walls, open up mattresses or couches, and tear apart wherever they think drugs could be hiding. swim says that they'd probably take special interest in a safe thats difficult to open, and wouldn't overlook it or simply give up.

As for opening safes looking for drugs...I bet they would. I had friends who got raided over downloading software. The law /tore up/ their house! Seriously. Over CDs. They even had to drop the charges. My friend got 10 computers back, in boxes, in pieces. No money to pay for anything damanged in the raid or to clean up the house. What bastards. |

there was no mention of a search warrent...?? if the po po didnt have 1 then obviously they cant even step into the door unless theres probable cause. if they step into the house and find other drugs then they might but i doubt they would if theres no sign of drugs/drug use...i think if there that suspicious and dont try to crack it then they will come back with a warrent.
just my opinion to my local police... |
