hey guys, i recently came across some peruvian torch seeds (san pedro's cousin) and im not sure what to do with them. I have them germinating in wet paper towels and so far 2 have sprouted. My question is what do i use for the soil mix? A friend told me i should use 1 part sand 1 part soil and 1 part vermiculite after its been steralized in the microwave. He also said to put a thin layer of either sand or verm on the top, wich is better, and is this method ok to use? These r the only materials i have to work with.

Currently I have seeds germinating on sand in a tray that I microwaved to sterilize. They are doing awsome, and almost ready to graft. Sprinkle seeds on top of cooled moist sand, and cover with a humidity tent. I slipped my trays into a gallon ziplock baggie, and left a little crack for air exchange. They will fine in that enviroment for up to a year.

i have only germinated cactus seeds once but my advices would be to keep it as natural as possible if your going for the organic route. and make sure the soil is well drained with sand or grit.not much but all i can offer. there is a okay book called peyote and other psychoactive cactus by adam gotlieb and it has a small, but detailed enough information on rasing cactus from seed.
