What is oxymorphone?

In a cladistine encyclopedia i've read they is a oxy-morphine form of an syth. opiate. This encylopedia also said that it is active in much lower doses (1/10th i believe i read) i havent taken any chem classes so i'm not in the position to say i can believe that its concrete but i've searched through the morphine and opiates chemistry and havent found any articles related. Id like to kill or concrete one more chemistry related mysterious writings.

ye its called oxymorphine brand name is opana and opana er, never heard of it before i looked it up, rescently approved by the fda... thats all the info i got.

As already stated above the compound you speak of is Oxymorphone, a stronger synthetic opiate than morphine.

actually, dilaudid is the brand name for hydromorphone. opana is the brand name for oxymorphone.

don't feel too bad, its easy to conflate the oxy- and hydro- prefixes with opiates since they occur often. as stated above, oxymorphone has only recently started being used, but hydromorphone has a long and somewhat infamous history, due to some forms of the pills being very easily abused IV.

one source states that oxymorphone is about 15 times as powerful as morphine, thus making it a bit stronger than hydromorphone.

diluadid is hydromorphone. oxymorphone is NOT a myth, I believe the brand name is Ultragesic. hope that clears stuff up.

The pill you guys are talking about is Oxymorphone... aka Opana. I, personally believe it to be the strongest opiate out there. I Have been prescribed almost any painkiller you can think of, and this takes the cake by far. I was prescribed Oxycontin a few months ago, and I told the doc that it kept making me sick, so he prescribed me Opana. So I did some research (thats why I am on this site), because even though the doc prescribed it, I still like to be well informed on the pills I swallow. Let me tell you all, this is one dangerous pill. I took one hours and hours ago, went to sleep, and woke up still very loopy (I ate a 40 mg opana). I guess what i'm trying to say, is if for whatever reasons you get ahold of one of these pills, think twice before you take it. And if you do, please, DO NOT EAT THE WHOLE PILL!!!!

swim absolutely loves opanas. swim can no longer get high off oxycodone, so when he gets his monthly script, it's like 2 weeks of heaven. swim gets prescribed the opana er 40mg. The only thing that sucks about it is that tolerance builds super fast. When swim started them, 20mg would send him flying, now, he has to snort like 4 40mg pills to get that nice high.

Swim's doc was prescribing swim roxy 30 4 times a day and 20 mgs of OC twice a day. Swim wanted a higher dose of OC, so swim told the doc that the OC's weren't strong enough. So, swim's doc prescribed opana 15 mgs twice a day. Swim tried snorting the opana's and found that they sucked. So, swim did some research and found that snorting Opana is useless.. So swim started sucking on the opana until the pill was nothing but mush. Now swim LOVES the stuff. When swim goes back to Dr. Feelgood, she is going to tell him that she feels as if a higher dose of opana will REALLY help with the pain, and a couple more roxy's too

The opana high is similar to an OC high, after 3 opana and 4 roxys, swim is nodding like crazy. Its good stuff.

SWIM has read that, although the Opana ER's are a bit more difficult to abuse than most other opioids pills, due to the time-release matrix which gels up, it's still pretty abuseable. SWIM has read that it takes around 15 minutes for Opana ER's to really kick in when they're snorted, but that they give off their Oxymorphone over a very long time, due to the powder gelling up a little bit and adhering to the inside of the nasal cavities, giving off it's dose over time, which makes the total duration a lengthy six hours!. Even with a fair bit of tolerance, the strongest Opana ER tablets contain a few doses per tablet. SWIM will be getting a few 40mg Opana ER's in a few weeks, he can't wait to try it out, as it's his first time!
