Well it's going to be. But why should drugs that have no addictive or destructive side effects be illegal. Why forbid substances that cause no public disturbance?

No substance should be illegal because the purpose of criminal law is to protect the people from crimes perpetrated on persons or on property by another. The government has no business dictating what I can and can not do to my own body.

I too think that it should remain legal. What is so wrong about continuing a tradition that the Mazatecs have been practicing for thousands of years? Salvia has NO known long-term effects andNOknown source of an addicting substance. Have there even been any clinical tests or statistics on this herb? I've yet to hear about mass testing on smoking/chewing this plant for study. If the government wants to set out a "War On Drugs" petition, then they might as well put up a "War On Alcohol" petition as wellbecause beer/wine is MANMADE and FAR more dangerous than any herb (assuming Salvia is one of the most potent herbs available). If you can purchase alcohol or cigarretteswithin a certain age limit, I believe that you should be able to do the same with Salvia. The U.K. has adapted this idea and has set their age limit to 19, acting as if it were a tobacco product. I believe that 19 is a very responsible age at which one could understand what he/she will be ingesting/smoking. Salvia and any other hallucinogen should be treated as the way that it is usedurchased to smoke= 19 years old. Some herb shops in the U.S. that sell this herb are required to give some background information on this drug and what its affects are and to encourage the user to have a sitter present when using this drug. These requirements for having this drug continued to being legal would not be bad ideas, as this herb is VERY potent. If Salvia became illegal, the word would spread about this substance and the U.S. would soon have over 5 times as many users interested in it as there are now: growing it, smoking it, and 'abusing' it in any other way...

I REALLY hope that the government hears from someone that could explain what I am trying to say and hopefullyunderstand froma legit reason for why this herb should not be illegalized. -But that's just one person's opinion.

USE THIS HERB RESPONSIBLY TO HELP RETAIN ITS STATUS ASLEGAL!HAVE A SITTER PRESENT!The more idiots we have using this drug in the wrong fashion, the more theherb is likely to appeal to the courts as a problem.
