Natural Hallucinogens in the Brain or Tribal Superstition?
i come from Sout-Eastern-Europe (Balkan), There is nearly allways war, sometimes ethnic sometimes tribel war, and i belong to small tribe,
our tribe ( i do not know if other tribes), practice a pagan and very squirmy ritual, if they drunk they often speak proud about it, we call it "osvojene", they speak how they killed the enemy without damaging his head, after that they opened the head with a bayonet an cut a small part in the midel, the killer immediatly eats this part "dusa" allone, or the firs kill he place it in a bottle of "Rakija" an cook it to share with others (no idea the exact recipe) They speak that they overtake the power of the enemy and go in the world of Ghosts "duhni svjet" for a while, a 6 year older "friend", he often took Mescaline, he told me that the shit is much stronger then mescaline. Could that be true that a part in the brain is hallucinogen, or is it a placebo effect? |

I think if part of the brain was hallucinogenic, then eating a similar part of an animals brain, like cow brain or a sheep brain, pig brain would also be hallucinogenic. I've never heard of such of athing. Even the brain eating cannibals of New Ginea only ate the brains ofthedeceased to become "part of them", not for an hallucinogenic trip. I wonder if eating a fresh pituitary or adrenal gland would do anything, like give you an adrenaline rush? In some areas of the world eating certain animal brains is just another meal. Sounds like tribal superstition. |

I wouldn't doubt it, some things are beyond any reason.

The brain contains many psychoactive substances. To be honest, I cant think of a neurotransmitter that's not psychoactive at the moment. Would that be an paradox in terminus? I can guess what parts of the brain would be likely, but guesses are of no use. The description "becoming part of them" seems very psychedelic to me.

What an arduous task it is- to persuade readers to share their canniballistic experiences with others !

It must be a placebo.
Stigmata is also a placebo effect so why wouldnt this be a placebo effect? Especially in combenation with alcohol. The power of believe can be so strong that you can pass in2 places that your mind is making up. ANyhow its very complex and Im not a psychologist. I just am sure that it doesnt exist.Like searcher said: "Tribal superstition." |
