fumarate ??????
A friend of mine, saw "fumarate" at the end of a chemical formula.
Some one can tell me more about that (fumarate). I found in the forum and no found nothing. except :" more stable compound" is it true? Thanks in advance!!! Psykochamane |

Something to do with fumaric acid I would assume.

Google is your friend: "A fumarate is a salt or ester of the organic compound fumaric acid, a dicarboxylic acid." In this case, the fumerate of 3-[2-(isopropylmethylamino)-ethyl]-4-indolol used most likely because it is more stable than other salts and it will make the chemical less hydroscopic.
So yes, in answer to your question, it is true. |

If a compound is active via oral administration in the freebase and HCl forms, would the fumarate also be orally active?

Do the chemistry: Look up what a fumarate is regards it's molecular weight. Now look up a hydrochloride. Figure out, using basic math, the difference. I'll give you all a hint - .HCl is arguably 36.5. Carbon is 12. Hydrogen is 1. Oxygen is 8.
If Hydrochloride (HCl) is 36.5, what is Chlorine? |

No doubt. My apologies. Strassman noted that they used the fumarate of DMT for the IV studies because it dissolves more readily in saline solutions than other salts do.
