I think it might be the tearing of space/time as you cross over to another realm.Well at least that's what I think for that sound that sounds like crumpling up aluminum foil or cellophane paper, but there are other sounds as well sounding at times like a jet taking off or other times like morse-code beeps.I think that we can catch cell phone, radio,TV etc..transmissions and our brain makes us interpret them in the audio frequency range since time is being stretched and compressed in all kind of ways.On one particular trip, swim was catching a radio station from Venezuela in spanish and all and he was in Montreal at the time.It was very clear when he heard the announcer say "esta es radio Venezuela...." and he didn't catch the rest cause by that time he was already in another realm since the quantum leaps are so fast and unpredictable. That other realm was beautiful. It was the void and full of white light.I really think this time swim got a glimpse of life after death man.He didn't even care if he never came back to this reality it was so beautiful out there.

SWIM and his friends have been experimenting with different music as they go. It's quite amazing. It seems as though the music wraps around you and floats you off into space. Sometimes it has that weird electric sound to it (kind like in the matrix when it sounds like the music is going down a drain). It's nuts!

SWIM would love to hear you thoughts on this...

Although always sperimenting with music and light, SWIM and friend believes that DMT has a music of its own, since even the short moment right before the DMT settles SWIM told me he always listem to this low melodic beeping, like a tune really, that has always been there in every trip...he is sure that this doesnt come from outside but it belongs to the experience itself..no theories so far but SWIM would love to be able to reproduce it if he had any musical talent, some of SWIM´s friends also get the same..

As experimenting with music and light:

Ayahuasca ritual music (hinarios), shamanic music and Brazilian Indian chanting have proven to be the best..a low light close by had some interesting effects once you face it or turn the other way..once SWIM´s stereo ramdomly started playing a faster and louder music (eletronic) and it felt really harsh and very unpleasent...

Anyway SWIM would like to know if anyone has listened to something when there was nothing on?

SWIM doesn't have any theory other than we all share most of our brain's chemistry(experiences, on the other hand are the very staple of human dimension). This likely accounts for the fact that many DMT users share some commonality in the 'hearing' of some manner of rhythmic sound/sensation prior to being swept away - if they have a breakthrough experience.

That said, SWIM does believe that the part of the DMT state that SWIY is inquiring about feels like tapping into some sort of collective consiousness...some sort of universal intelligence that runs across all ages and species, and is carried by this oscillating wave, for want of a better description.

There have been lots of very odd hypotheses for why this phenomenon occurs with such regularity.

While SWIM, nor anyone that SWIM knows can really encapsulate the DMT liftoff sensation, SWIM feels that it does serve as a 'psychic wink' to fellow voyagers. Sort of a signpost that allows SWIY to relate to others; "SWIY's been here."

SWIM has Strassman's DMT: The Spirit Molecule, and if SWIY can get ahold of the a copy, it is a must read. For SWIM there are so many 'Oh yeah!' moments in the book that SWIM was astounded by some of the commonalities in what is, by any account, an indescribably intense psychedelic experience.

SWIM has 'heard' everything from a song SWIM hasn't heard in years loop for an eternity, to the more commonly reported static sort of sound that rises in intensity to a roar. SWIM has found the static-like sound to be an indicator that this is going to be a very profound experience.

Other times SWIM cannot rembember a thing except for reawakening verrrrry slowly into consensus reality.

Since this is discussion on the initial sound/sensation entering the DMT state, SWIM can add nothing more to this part of the experience.

SWIM'll go quietly No need to shove

Swim has this book, and swim had many (to much to count) breakthrough experiences, some wre similar and some totallyn different from each other but all with this "song"...Swim likes your theory but if sharing the same brain chemestry is the reason this happens to other ppl (tho not so regularlly) wouldnt that trip itself be a projection instead of a revelation? The trip itself comes from outside within or both? Is there adifference? Swim doenst now and its been a while since her doesnt experiment with this, ill think shell do it again (even knowing that she wont have answers to that) just to listen to the music

If swim has broken through with DMT and it has taught him anything it should be that you can find outside within, and outisde you can look within. They are one and the same.

First of all, SWIM would like to apologize for using the term 'theory.' SWIM's barely coherent ramblings on the subject do not even construct a hypothesis.

The statements below are not anything more than conjecture backed up by SWIM's purely subjective experience.

SWIM believes that the entire experience is endogenous. SWIM thinks that setting, previous experience, mindset, and an individual's level of suggestability all play a role in the structuring of the trip.

The level of utter strangeness of a heavy DMT experience has often left SWIM believing most anything during the comedown, but once successfully integrated, SWIM is left to believe that the factors listed above account for the DMT experience's variability, as well as it's commonality.

Just don't ask SWIM ten minutes after reentry if he believes what he just typed

SWIM really wishes that he had some revelatory statement regarding the DMT experience, but alas, he does not. However, SWIM finds it astounding that our minds allow us to take these journeys...and typically return safely, if sometimes somewhat rattled. Isn't that a wonderful thing?

SWIM isn't going to make Terence McKenna style statements about the DMT experience. It is simply too subjective. As SWIY knows, capturing the essence of your own experiences is difficult enough, to make a blanket statement about all travelers requires a large study group, controls, and all those 'sciency' things

If some organization wishes to grant SWIM the necessary funds to conduct this inquiry, SWIM is all ears!

SWIM is reminded of a statement that the late, great physicist, Richard Feynman, who once quipped; "The first principle [of science] is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool."

SWIM wishes he had answers to the big questions, but SWIM is adrift as few are, and less moored than the rest.

Absolutely!

Your point of view is very positive and refreshing.

Swim prefers relative silence while experiencing DMT; Music does not sound any better, and sometimes sounds aggressive; television or movies cause major confusion and feel aggressive. Swim can sometimes hear the twinkle and flash, but usually hears something that he can only describe as the atmouspheric growl of some creature having its belly rubbed: A very deep and waving throaty sound. Very pleasant and very powerful.

A few of you posted hearing a certain music while in the DMT hyperspace dimention.Well are any of you familiar with the song entitled"Divine Moments of Truth " by Shpongle. There is this melody thet repeats throughout the song and on a few DMT journeys SWIM heard that melody in hyperspace before ever knowing of that song or even of Shpongle. So after hearing about them from other forums SWIM desides to check out Shpongle so he downloads a few songs. When he heard That particular melody in tha song his jaw dropped to the fucking floor he couldn't believe that he had heard it before courtesy of the elf disc jockey.Facinating is all he can say.

Yes, that certainly is fascinating.

SWIM doesn't know if SWIY has ever been in a good drum circle, but highly recommends it. One can enter an almost trancelike state, and - this is the cool part - if everyone is in harmony(musically harmonious), one actually hears a chorus of singers where none are present. This has been reported by many members simultaneously in circles where the groove is really good, and the rhythms are adequately well played. SWIM has heard this chorus on many occasions. Very cool, indeed.

The drumming tradition that SWIM is an adherent of is true West-African - not diasporic. SWIM plays all the various percussion instruments...with varying degrees of skill(mostly just okay..the emphasis on JUST ).

This effect is noted when no psychedelics are present. During the post-peak period of tryptamine intoxication, the effect is magnified and can encompass more than just the heard presence. It can be an experience that draws in all the senses save for smell in SWIM's case.

SWIM is going to issue a report on the subjective nexus of drumming whilst on tryptamine comedowns. It can be truly spectacular. As in SWIM's norm, he will not try and draw any conclusions about the nature of the experience.

Drawing the big cosmic conclusions isn't SWIM's place. SWIM accepts what he hears, and marvels at the mind's ability to transmit this information into a shared conciousness.

Re: the DMT sound

Shpongle rules!! SWIM has always liked Shpongle during a good mushroom trip.

SWIM also thinks SWIM likes the quiet when taking off with DMT. SWIM did find sounds to reverberate and slow down like the doppler effect, or kinda like a skipping cd for a few seconds after takeoff. SWIM doesn't have that much experience with DMT yet and is still testing the cosmic waters so SWIM isn't sure if these sounds are what the group speaks of. SWIM will say that something with hearing is going on but cannot put a finger on it just yet.

SWIM had the screen door open during a DMT experience and outside some people were arguing, and SWIM thought that was the elves yelling at him. Sheesh! So yep SWiM likes quiet as opposed to arguing voices.

Jimmah!
