SWIF recently visited a coffee shop in Manchester that sells weed under the table and also many people smoke there. It is yet to be closed.

swim would advise not talking about such things in such detail on the internet as certain friendly coffee shop owners may be caught as a result.....the law enforcement dont need our help.....

SWIM remembers seeing a programme on the TV in the UK about a guy who started his own coffee shop in Rhyl the "Beggars Belief" It operated with a private member room, where apparently members could smoke. The owner has been arrested and released lots. He set up some fool proof (surposedly) scheme called bud buddies, it went somthing like he provided weed for terminally ill people free of charge but if he or one of his growers got caught lots of the terminally ill people would turn out in court make a big fuss, and by logic the police wouldn't arrest and charge them so all would go free. SWIM thinks that was the jist of it (This guy has already attracted loads of publicity even has his own website so SWIM does not consider the mentioning of him damaging)

Re: In London?

swim knows of at least 3 kebab shops around london which sell you an 8th with your doner. Not to mention a couple of corner shops which have 'specials'. Unfortunately, all of the above generally sell low grade weed or reasonable imported hash. Skunk it would seem is solely the reserve of the dealer.

There is also a certain educational establishment in which people smoke openly and there are always a few friendly people around to sort out a little bit. And the best bit is, due to a loophole, the police can't do shit.

Re: Coffeeshops In London?

About couple of years ago SWIM used to live in Slough area. SWIM was also newbie in the UK so was really suprised when got in to "Traditional Pub" and found a oasis. SWIM just walked in, had a beer at the bar and made his way to the patio. There was a massive tent and SWIM could sit down, have a drink and roll nice joints. SWIM also found someone to get sorted easily, felt like a real coffeshop. SWIM cannot wait to try the real ones.

Re: Coffeeshops In London?

I used to frequent a bar in great yarmouth that was a weed cafe as well, this was a few years ago so it may be closed, it may not however, they have bands play there as well as a pool table and a reasonably priced bar.

Re: Coffeeshops In London?

Apparently when the laws changed to make the drug class C lots of coffee shops opened around the country, however the bulk of them get shut down, the ones left open are generally known about by the police, its one of those little niches in the law where the police know about illegal acts but don't do anything about it to help keep the peace, that or they're being paid off well enough.

You are right, but its not that a lot of *coffeeshops opened but the existing coffeshops were no longer so secretive and a few with the polices help had a fair amount of publicity. A couple of places opened to see how lenient the law would be and were promptly closed down. The police in the UK dont like public humiliation of the laws and for mainly social publicity would prefer bust a coffeshop than a dealer(unless they are bigtime!). The police do turn a blind-eye to the inconspicuous and small operations(why push it underground!). In some respect the changing to class C took the police resources off the consumer and onto the suppliers making the running of a known coffeeshop more difficult.

*coffeshops- I use this word loosly, as said earlier in thread, the majority of places are kebab shops, cornershops, cafes, clubs, pubs/bars etc.. giving 'under the counter' service and are not coffeshops like you get in the Netherlands
