pulse goes down?

hey so swim has been tweakin on addy for a few hour now here a quick log

6:12 PM 8/2/2006 30mg snort
7:40 PM 8/2/2006 ~10mg snort
8:58 PM 8/2/2006 15mg snort
10:05 PM 8/2/2006 30mg snort
10:36 PM 8/2/2006 15mg snort

anyway here is the question or statement. Swim took his pulse after the 30mg snort, and it was 127 standing, 95 sitting. Swim wasnt shocked but a lil high. So swim has a pulse-ometer (measures pulse, oxygen saturation... doctor in the family very good to have) and well swim noted that his pulse is now at 10:37ish low, 92 standing. What could explain the initial shock and pulse raise then lower later even though more is in my system? Did swims body cope, or what?

the initial raise in pulse could be due in part not just to the adderall, but to the physical act of snorting and the anticipation effect. that is to say, on some level, swiy's body anticipates the delivery of drugs even before they have had time to become pharmacologically active, and will react accordingly, which can include an elevated heart rate beyond that which the adderall would cause. in many research studies, this expectation effect is why many repeated measures are taken at different points in time, both before and after drug administration. in addition, this is why placebos are given in studies...if swiy were to snort a bunk pill, there would probably be a similar spike in heart rate, which would drop off even lower than swiys current heart rate. others should feel free to add more reasons as they see fit.

Good Points ForTheSevenLakes. However in SWIMs experience the intenseness of the elevated heart rate doesn't become very apparent and uncomfortable until the comedown. Swim's guess is that his body simply adjusted to the amphetamines, despite increasing the presence of them in the blood stream. Swim's own experience has taught him that during speed usage, addy's will always hit a little harder at first and therefore speed up the heart more, but as usage continues, the body gets used to processing and breaking down the chemicals and doesnt have to work as hard overall despite the increasing dosages. When SWIM first used adderall, his heart beat was significantly increased, however over time the addys had less and less noticable changes on body functions. Considering the amount of time that passed during your experiment, I suspect a very slight tolerance built up during the hours. Of course I'm assuming all factors in the experiment were equal, but there were many factors that could not be measured (Time passed after the adderall's were taken until heart rate measurement, how quickly each one broke down which varies a little , ect) But that's my best guess. And I'm spent.

Peace.

^^^the tolerance effect is probably true as well, especially if the adderall is being used regularly. so what swiy is saying is that even throughout the course of a day, tolerance will build up rapidly to repeated administrations of adderall every couple hours? it makes sense, swim just didnt know it could happen that fast. both of our explanations probably have some validity to them.

I concur, swim has found that prior to snorting any substance, his heart starts pumping in anticipation of the very act of snorting. Even the act of snorting itself is exhilarating

To get the best effects, taking it all at once and orally (better absorption) is a good way.

potentiate

Baking soda, in the case of adderall XR has a definite effect on increasing the rate at which it is absorbed, it makes you higher, but come down faster
