A safe cigarette... maybe?
well I dont consider myself a smoker, but I do smoke here and there. Ill buy maybe a pack a month and have a cig here and there when swim is under other influence... I hate it when swim takes my cigs.
Well anyway the RJ reynolds company has came up with a possibly safer cigarette that doesnt burn tobacco but rather vaporizes it... its intresting swim hasnt tried it but it called the Eclipse... Here is a link, it has a video with info I found it very intresting. http://www.eclipse.rjrt.com/ |

Yeah pretty much. They aren't anything special.
It is quite cool that smoke doesn't come out the end though. Sort of a weird feeling smoking one. |

I haven't heard of the exact name "Eclipse", but I've heard of the new idea and read about it a little when SWIM recieved a package in the mail telling about these new products. I found a website that stated this, which might make you think twice before thinking these new products are "much safer" than a normal cigarette...
"A new scientific study shows that R.J. Reynolds’ new Eclipse cigarettes expose smokers to greater amounts of several cancer-causing chemicals compared to two “ultralight” cigarette brands already on the market. The study, which was commissioned by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and conducted by Labstat International Inc., a certified cigarette testing laboratory, found that Eclipse produced approximately equal or higher amounts of several potent carcinogenic chemicals as compared to the “ultralight” Now and Carlton brands." Therefore, it looks like the more they research the more they are starting to prove themself's a bit wrong. But the idea, is great. I think sooner than later, we will have a cigarette product with this idea that IS less potent and better for your health. All I can say is, I hope they stick to this idea and work with it! wouldnt it be nice if this tech was transfered somehow into cannabis, it would be like a disposable vaporizer in a joint. Methy swim understand that tech is prob still bad for your lungs but one can still dream. Swim too hopes they continue this research and development of similar products. Swim is not really a cig smoker maybe a pack a month (far from heavy)

swim doesnt know if that vaporizing stuff is true. he really doesnt think so. swiy can build his own real vaporizer and just use tobacco (propably pipe tobacco) instead of weed. Note that nicotine boils at 247C so you should evaporate the nicotine using lower pressure so it boils at lower temperatures.
a good and much more healthy alternative is that stuff they use when they wanna give up smoking (in germany that stuff is called nicorette). it contains nicotine which is absorbed by the skin. |

I remember having one of these about 4 years ago or so. All I can say is I think there are crap and taste nasty and it works by heating up this little plastic looking thing and it travels down which doesnt seem to healthy to me. I wouldnt really consider it safer, but it is smokeless and ashless!! ill stick to my regular cigarettes

Re: A safe cigarette... maybe?
Adderall and Drugs-Forum are a dangerous combination, according to SWIM. He was reading this thread about an hour ago while taking a break from his all-night studies (adderall induced, of course) and was intrigured by these cigarettes. After all, he loves his cigarettes on adderall. He used the store locator to find a gas station nearby and drove out at 6 AM to get a pack of eclipse cigarettes and a pack of turkish gold as his always reliable staple.
The pack tested was the menthol variety because the whole idea didn't seem like it would taste anywhere near as nice as a cigarette, and at least the menthol would make whatever it tasted like smoother. The initial drags on the cigarette taste very unnatural. I wouldn't describe it as a disgusting taste, but nothing like tobacco. This is due to the fact that the you are preparing the heat source for your smoke. After the heat mechanism is all in order, the actual smoke isn't bad. It doesn't taste much like your regular cigarette, but then again I'm not a light-brand smoker. For me, I smoke socially and situationally, it isn't quite an addiction. So, I figure, if I'm going to smoke a cigarette I might as well enjoy it for what it is, tobacco. That is why I smoke turkish golds. For me, a light cigarette tastes extremely processed and cheap; more of a means of delivery for one's nicotine addiction rather than a way to enjoy tobacco. With this in mind, it makes it difficult to guage how good these cigarettes actually are. For me, I enjoy a cigarette with a strong and smooth taste, not one that "gets the job done" so to speak. These cigarettes don't taste bad, similarly to how light cigarettes don't taste bad, they're just different from what a cigarette, for lack of a better term, should taste like. Overall the smoke was very smooth with much less of a burning sensation than a regular cigarette would have. Once the cigarette was actually burning, the taste didn't offend, but it wasn't something that would merit a smoke every now and then. At the end of the day its all subjective, though. It might be something you like the taste of, or perhaps just something you wouldn't mind tolerating for a potentially healthier smoke if you're just looking to get your nicotine. However I can say with almost 100% certainty that if you enjoy smoking cigarettes for more than just the nicotine buzz, these probably won't cut it. I believe it is a very interesting product and I definitely recommend giving them a shot if you just want to try something new. However if you're only looking for a full-bodied flavor then look elsewhere. |

SWIM has found she is not sleeping much since coming off amphetamines.... strange but anyway, because of this she is smoking way more than usual and she remembered that she had some "herbal" cigarettes left from a time when she was trying to quit. They didn't taste very nice then, but tasted much better this time around, unfortunately lhey also left a terrible smell afterwards, like something was burning (carpet or something) SWIM is unsure if she will smoke another one. |
